wow you people from ohio take high school sports way to seriously. It's HIGH SCHOOL. I remember 4 years ago when i was a freshmen coming from buffalo, ny(where high school hockey is bigger than football), it totally blew my mind that kids were going home on the weekends to watch the high school football game instead of stayin in bg for the BG football game. I know people 4 years later that still don't know that they are out of high school i think. Oh, and trust me, the only reason anyone in the country knows about Bowling Green ohio is because of the school, trust me. Don't try and say that the tractor pull is a reason people know about us because drunk rednecks blasting country and saying racial slurrs are one step below chimpanzies on the food chain.

Right, I agree. But the point of my post was that people are busy doing other things and high school sports and yes even our beloved Falcons, often take a back seat to things such as family events, festivals, concerts, taking the kids to see their grandparents, boating on lake erie etc. etc.San Diego Falcon wrote:Because it's probably more interesting than sitting at home and watching paint dry.If you don't have a connection to the team, be it the Battling Bobcats or the Fighting Falcons, why would or should you come out and support the team?
My whole point there was that they aren't just "sitting at home and watching paint dry." People are busy doing other things, and the mentality is not of team-first unless they have a connection to the team or school specifically.
all bowling green
Is that what that stuff was? Looked like sh*t to me.PGY Tiercel wrote:Like any one believes the streets to Rossford are even paved. (Last time is was in Perrysburg they had upgraded to platinum)

That, and why did we need a college when we had Libby's? Nothing like tomatos to keep a town thriving and the migrants working. Then they had to go and shut the place down...Warthog wrote:Growing up in Leipsic, I was told that Leipsic was the original choice as the site for the state college in Northwest Ohio. The powers that be in Leipsic (the Edwards family) did not want the college there, so it ended up in BG. So go look at Leipsic now to see if you think the city of BG would be what it is today without the Univeristy.transfer2BGSU wrote:What makes you think nothing would be in BG today if the state did not place a Normal College in the town back in 1910?

I just don't believe that those other activities are prevalent in Oct and Nov in Bowling Green, Ohio. Maybe in bigger cities. But I don't have kids, so I can't relate to family events. But the point of my post was that people are busy doing other things and high school sports and yes even our beloved Falcons, often take a back seat to things such as family events, festivals, concerts, taking the kids to see their grandparents, boating on lake erie etc. etc.

Washington botched the marketing on this one, big time. They priced tickets at the same level as the Seahawks and the UW alums stayed away in droves.BGSU33 wrote:
In Washington’s case, I was surprised to see so few in attendance being that it was the season-opener, UW had a new head coach, they averaged more than double that number for the season (over 64,000), and the UW campus is also right in Seattle. I believe the game was considered a “home game” for Air Force and was set up to be played on a neutral field (which was still in UW’s backyard), and that Air Force isn’t exactly a top draw team, but I thought this figures was low even with those things considered. Washington had over 61,000 at Husky Stadium (on campus) two weeks later for a game against Idaho after they started the season 0-2 after losses to both Air Force and Cal.
.
As for our game, I'm with Hammb, 20-25K. 30,000 would be an unqualified success.

Falcon Club will be, but from what I have heard, not a "students only" bus. Heck, getting students to by tickets is a challenge, so getting 45 people on a bus will be an even bigger challenge, especially since students have to pay full freight on the game tickets.Columbus_Zak wrote:Does anyone know if BGSU is offering students a bus to Cleveland to watch the game?

HS football in Ohio is HUGE, just HUGE. My alma mater, Dover, usually gets around 5,000 every game...not too bad for a Div III school and it seems the whole town travels to away games. And Johnny Swoop '85, no freakin Sandy Valley wisecracks about Dover. It has a VERY rich tradition and is 12th all time in Ohio HS history in terms of wins and winning %.moneymaker02 wrote:wow you people from ohio take high school sports way to seriously. I can understand hockey being bigger that football in NY cuz NY plays a hell of a lot more HS hockey than Ohio.
I would put Ohio HS football up against any state in the nation...it is rabid and tons of folks in towns all over the state can only be found in HS stadiums on Friday nights.

Full price? Are those the $10 or the $7 tickets?cbjhack wrote:Falcon Club will be, but from what I have heard, not a "students only" bus. Also isn't this on Labor Day weekend? Won't most students either be home or left with little to do? I don't know if things have changed very much, but when I was there a disproportionate amount of students were from Cleveland. If they go home that weekend, perhaps a bunch of them will turn up.
Awoooooooooga!
