And when was the last time the team was able to do that? In addition to beating numerous top 25 teams this year I would hardly say Pooch is useless as a coach.dannyk wrote:BGDREW the comment about beating ohio st and michigan i found humorous. this isnt football; in a 40 game season everyone has a win or two for the scrapbook. I know you didnt mean it that way but it was worth a quick laugh.

I just got on and started reading this.BGathletics24 wrote:I'd have to agree with you in regards to Pooch and his coaching strategies. BG really needs to get him out of there. I've watched him coach over the past four years and it really is depressing. I never thought I could ever hate watching the game of hockey until Pooch came along and took over the falcons. Pooch should've stayed a player and never a coach. If only his coaching abilities were as good as his playing abilities. I hate to see the falcons go down, but as long as they keep him in there, I don't think much will change; despite the athleticism of the players.
Just as an administrative FYI, BGathletics24 and freddiethefalconBG posted from the same IP address. Now, what could this mean? Just about anything, but I thought I'd just make that knowledge public.

I always get that spidey sense tingling when someone posts for the first time and then is backed up soon after by another first time poster. Thanks Grant. I kind of wondered about that since both of them just registered today. Umm...I'm pretty sure you said Masters was the best goalie BG had ever seen.freddiethefalconBG wrote: Tyler Masters: Before Paluch came to BG, Tyler Masters was the best goalie BG had ever seen
i never said masters was the best goalie ever. jordan sigalet is by far the best golaie i have seen play for bg but at the time masters was the best.
Personally, and this is from someone that understands some of the game but still has much to learn, I think Gary Kruzich was the best I'd ever seen at BG. Jordan Sigalet is right up there as well.
At any rate, I'd listen BGFan, Falcon Fanatic, FindlayFalcon, Hockey John & folks like that first and foremost. They live, breathe, eat, and sleep Falcon Hockey the way I do with Falcon Football.

Thank you for all the clarifications. I just read this thread and it is totally off base in my opinion.
I don't think anybody from Scott Paluch to our assistants to our players to our fans are happy about our overall records. We work hard to put BG near the top of the league and I am sure that is the goal of all the coaches, players and our fans. When we fall short, we are not happy or satisfied. I think we have made progress, in my opinion, in many off ice areas.
I am no hockey expert. Far from it. But I know enough about BG sports to stick behind our coaches on something like I see printed here. Discuss strategy etc. But to simply throw out these statements is not only wrong, it is hurtful.
I don't see a place for this thread which contains an amazing amount of "opinion" expressed second and third hand by/about players from years past- as in even three years past. Constructive criticism is good; reasonable discussion is healthy. I don't see these type of posts as either.
Go Falcons!

(You probably shouldn't answer that. There is a lot of potential for ugliness if the answer is positive........)

I admit it.....it was me
At least now this forum won't feel so left out from the Basketball and Football forums. Now we've had a segment from each call for the coach's head on a stick.
The funny thing is, and this is especially funny since I'm among the GB detractors, is that Brandon seems like he's done the best job over the past few years. I would put Pooch second, simply because I've seen the potential on the ice. We've got the talent now, and I think there's some hope for the future regardless of what some anonymous "insider" says. Dakich, well, I really hope this season goes well for him.
By the way new posters, just saying you have credibility does not give you credibility, especially around here. There have been countless times people give "inside" information, only to have it turn out bogus. It is unreasonable to expect everybody to take you seriously on this post when nobody has any clue who you are.

you will all see
whatever. im trying to help all you guys realize the trouble the hockey progam is in because of the coaching staff. if the majority of you people want to be ignorant to it than so be it. any person that knows the game of hockey can very easily see that the reason why we finished in last placed last year is because of coaching. we had two guys in the top ten on scoring all year and we fininsh last. common people we are the joke of the ccha. paluch is a retard and so is fogarty. you can all live in denial eventually you will snap out of it and hopefully the people of the athletic department will to.
FOR YOUR INFORMATION! i heard that a bunch of the guys that played under paluch and fogarty have been sending emails to the athletic department telling them how bad of a coach he is and how miserable it is to play for him. and that is 100% true. maybe another loosing season will wake everyone up. its too bad another year has to go by and these guys that brake their ass all year have to put up with having such an awful coach.

This statement pretty much sums it all up for me.
What a wondrous contradiction.
Roll Along!
A couple of observations from my perspective:
1). None of the players listed were recruited by the current coaching staff. I have no doubt that there has been hatred expressed by those players due to their percieved preference by the coaching staff of the newer recruits. Also, the difference in talent between Powers' recruits and Paluch's recruits probably caused a rift between the haves and have nots and their perception of the coaching staff.
2). The coach is the coach. If the Bieksa story is true, I don't blame Paluch for his attitude towards Bieksa. You do what the coach tells you to do, period, regardless of how you feel about that coach.
3). Masters was a head case from day one. He was a good goaltender but not a great one and his ego far exceeded his ability. If he had the potential that this guy says he did, he would be playing for the NHL.
