Potential Paluch Replacements
My top three picks for the new coach at BGSU, replacing Paluch are:
1. Nelson Emerson
2. Ian Duncan
3. Kevin Patrick
Any thoughts on other names that should be included on that list?

Emerson has no coaching experience. I don't know if Duncan does, either for that matter.ShaneFalco wrote:My top three picks for the new coach at BGSU, replacing Paluch are:

I didn't know Paluch was leaving.
For goodness sake, people, even if you hate his guts for whatever reason, he's the coach. Say what you will about his style, personality, puppy-kicking habits, whatever, but it's obvious that he will be the coach next year. What sense does it make to start rattling off replacement ideas?

Just trying to get a head start on the national search that will need to take place between the 2006-2007 and 2007-2008 seasons.
Emerson and Duncan have coaching experience at lower levels, but not at the college level. I think that their NHL experience and hockey savy would make them a good fit for atleast an assistant position, if not the head job.
All three candidates are great guys, and would be a great fit for the program.

I am hoping for (in no particular order)
1. Barry Melrose
2. Don Cherry
3. Don Cherry's dog.
So basically if you were around here 6 years ago you would have posted:
"POSSIBLE REPLACEMENTS FOR BUDDY POWERS"
And could have conceivable said:
Scott Paluch- would be a great fit for the program, knows BG, was a falcon, and is gaining coaching experience under the only man to bring a National Championship to BG while an assistant at Boston College.

For some sick reason, and totally unrelated to this thread, I was thinking today that I should really make a Sheldon Kennedy reference sometime just to see who gets it.
You win, Bill. You win.

Dayons Den - I love your top two choices for the job.... Melrose, Cherry, or some combination of the two guys would be phenominal for the position.... add their names to the national search list.
Also, you are right on about what could have been said 5-6 years ago about Paluch being a good candidate for the job.... unfortunately, he has proved that those credentials just weren't enough, and he should stick with being Jerry York's assistant.

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Falconboy attends less total minutes of hockey than he does of basketball. I'd count total games, but I'm not sure of the last time he made it in at the beginning of either.BGDrew wrote:Falcon Boy.

I would say Earl Utter would be the best fit. He's coached SUNY Morrisville to 3 strait national junior college championships and plus he recruited me to play there
. Heres a link to his resume there.
