looks like the "dumbass" doesnt wear a helmet while riding his motorcycle. Says he doesnt like to. Ya know what then dont wear one playing football. God!!! Some times stuff like this suprises the hell out of me.

Looks like Omars shot is improving...to early but improving.

they said Bens head hit and broke the windshield of the car, he was blody, apeared disorineted but was conscious on his trip to the hospital. I hope its just a concussion and that it knocked some sense into him...
God wear a helmet...protect that grey matter!

A witness told Channel 4 Action News that Roethlisberger went over the handlebars, hit the windshield of another vehicle and then hit the ground.

Roethlisberger was not wearing a helmet, according to the paper.

Two camps:

1) Don't wear a helmet and get a skull fracture.

2) Wear a helmet and snap your neck.

You decide.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that Steelers quarterback Ben Roetlisberger has been injured in a motorcycle accident near the 10th Street Bridge in Pittsburgh.
(As of 12:10 p.m. EDT, the Tribune-Review's web site had crashed, apparently due to the enormous spike in traffic.)
The accident occurred at 11:37 a.m. He was not wearing a helmet. A veteran police officer has told WTAE-TV that the accident was "pretty bad."
Per WTAE, Roethlisberger has been taken to the trauma unit at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh. There are no specifics as to his condition.
A witness to the aftermath of the accident told WTAE at 12:11 p.m. that Roethlisberger was alert and talking to paramedics, but there was "blood everywhere." The witness also said that Roethlisberger was wearing a neck collar. As of 12:17 p.m., neither the Mercy Hospital officials nor the team would divulge any details.
Another witness told WTAE that Roethlisberger "T-boned" a vehicle, struck the windshield, rolled onto the ground and struck his head on the pavement. His eyes were open but he was very confused. He said that he was "okay" and tried to get up.
Roethlisberger was criticized in 2005 for not wearing a helmet, which was revealed after Browns tight end Kellen Winslow wrecked his crotch rocket and suffered a torn ACL and internal injuries.
Said Roethlisberger at the time: "I'm pretty conservative and laid back. I'll just continue to be careful. [W]e always ride in a group of people, and I think it makes it even more safe."
There's no indication that Roethlisberger was riding in a group on Monday morning.

Not much info yet. Hopefully he's OK.

I'm willing to bet that the car he t-boned pulled out in front of him.

It happens quite a bit - especially to bikers riding alone.

Hopefully he'll be okay.

The intersection this happened at is a particularly nasty one. There have been many many accidents there. The scenario you laid out seems most likely. He probably hit the front half (side) of the car, went over the bars, onto the windshield, and rolled to the pavement on the other side.

Good thing nobody ran him over after that. Sounds like just head injuries.

Omar's chance!

Post by gayfalcon »

I am a native of Pittsburgh and a Steelers fan based on my geographical heritage so I can be bitter and cynical!

Big Ben is worth a fortune -- he just wrecked his future. Lemme say what a dumba$$. Let's hope he gets better, but on the good side, Omar has a better chance moving up in the QB race.

Cowher is not the best judge of QB material and is stubborn about stickin' with who he's got -- see Slash for this example.

So Omar's chances have gone way up in my Steeler rootin' opinion.

"The next seven weeks will be very critical in terms of their preparation as it goes into the season and it will be a reflection of their ability to apply some self-discipline and sacrifice over the next seven weeks," said Cowher. "It will speak volumes and we expect them back here ready to go July 28."

My guess on Ben is this.
concusion and several stiches, a sore neck and face in general..maybe even dental work. But he will back playing this season.
as for Bill sticking...its what we do, we dont changes coaches, we let players have a fair shot and attempt to work through hard times before cutting them.

And to back your point......

Per mile traveled, a motorcyclist is approximately 16 times more likely to die in a crash than an automobile occupant. And 3 times as likely to be injured.
