Greg Christopher is new AD!

Post by bgsufn »

From the BG News:

Greg Christopher has been selected as the new athletic director for Bowling Green State University.

Christopher will replace Paul Krebs, who stepped down to accept a similar position at the University of New Mexico on March 13.

The final decision came Friday, just nine days after the University announced it was down to two finalists - the other being Whit Babcock from West Virginia University.

University president Sidney Ribeau and vice president of student affairs Ed Whipple chose Christopher on Friday after both candidates visited Bowling Green for interviews.

Christopher is the outgoing associate athletic director at Purdue University, where he's worked since 1997. He also has Mid-American Conference ties, graduating from Miami University 1988 with a degree in Mass Communication.

At Purdue, Christopher oversaw the John Purdue Club, marketing, promotions and advertising, sports videos, and sports information. He also played an important role in a campus-wide capital campaign, which is set to raise at least $111 million for Purdue.

The official announcement is expected Wednesday.

There is a press conference at the Ice Arena at 3:00 and a reception at the BTSU later in the day.

Ok- so the press conference is open to all but the reception is invitation only. Sorry- for the mis-info...I'm just excited to have a new AD and keep Falcon sports moving on!

Welcome to BG, Greg. I must warn you that the town and campus aren't nearly as patoral and serene from late August to mid May as they were when you interviewed.....

Striking facts on B10 vs Mac......

Near the very end of that collumn it says, Greg Christopher helped bring in 17.2 million in total giving last year. That is more money than our own athletic budget of 14 million operates on, dang. What's Purdue's athletic budget, 50 million?
