Nice job...I agree that OU and CMU are games we will win.
So far as the Defense goes, Brady Minturn and Brandon Mack will be in the mix at DT. True freshman Eugene Fells will join Jackson (a 17 year old true freshman) as LB's that will be looked to for help right away. Expect Calvin Marshall and Jerritt Sanderson to compete in the secondary right away.
Gregg Brandon expects to take the redshirt off of as many as 10-11 guys this fall. I gues we'll see if that's an indication of a lack of exisiting depth, a great incoming class or a mixture of both.

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

I don't see us losing to CMU or Ohio. IMO, the make or break games this year are Akron, Miami and UT.
I think we'll finish anywhere from 7-5 to 9-3...at least right now.
Flip,
Good points on the RS's and younger players. There may be inexperience, but it appears to me we have a wealth of talent to develope. If we can get guys to step up like Antonio Smith, Bobby Thomas and likes did last year, I think we'll do pretty well.

Erique Dozier..........
I still can't believe that he's penciled in as a linebacker. I'm guessing hes' at a OLB position but he's too frickin small in my oh so humble opinion. Vandelay alluded the to him having 4.4 speed which surprised me. If he's that fast why the hell is he not playing corner or at the very least saftey. If Dozier is really that fast at his size, 6'1 210 he'd be playing saftey or possibly corner if he were playing for the Bucks or Michigan or most BCS teams out there. Ther's absolutley not way he'd be playing linebacker for the OSU no matter how hard he hits. For him to be remotely successfull at linebacker he's gonna have to display near Ted Ginn athletism and quickness to avoid blocks from the 250lb TE's that he is gonna have to try and get by week in and week out.
Gosh I were the coach and if Doziers really that fast I'd be penciling him in a saftey no less and possibly saftey if his coverage skills were good enough. A 4.4 40 is great speed for a linebackers position, but size, strength and good offensive read skills I think are slightly more important there. In the end I hope it all works out and the D can be formidable for once.

Sure, Dozier is really small for a LB and he will probably get blown up by linemen at times during the year, but I think he will make more plays than most of the other guys we have at linebacker. At SAM, you can choose either Dozier or Jon Jakubowski. With Jakubowski at 221, my guess is that you would choose him.falconboy wrote:I still can't believe that he's penciled in as a linebacker. I sure hope Terrill White doesn't go down with an injury at the other outside LB position because then we would have to go with Nate Waldron at 192 pounds soaking wet. I can only imagine the posts if Dozier, Waldron, and Nick Lawrence (only 200 pounds) are ever on the field at the same time.
It all comes down to the D-line absorbing blockers. If they can take on blockers, then the LB's are free to roam around and hit people. Dozier can definitely hit. Just ask Marques Parks.

Re: Erique Dozier..........
Ther's no question that can Dozier can hit. I guess I didn't realize that we were that thin at linebacker. I think though that incoming frosh Brandon Jackson who's allready at 220lbs and I guess has good speed too, could start at a OLB position. Personally I think Dozier would make a kick-ass corner or saftey but if we are that weak or thin depth wise at linebacker I guess we have no choice at this point.BGGrad01 wrote:Sure, Dozier is really small for a LB and he will probably get blown up by linemen at times during the year, but I think he will make more plays than most of the other guys we have at linebacker.
