Racketeers - used to get a "six-pack" of Boone's Farm Kountry Kwencher. Worst. Hangovers. Ever.

Dino's/Marks - most organized Dine & Dash response in BG.

The North Main SamB's is now beckett's, not "bennets." If I'm not mistaken, it's the same ownership. Best happy hour in town, IMO.

The power plant is still there, it was just upgraded and the new, smaller, more efficient building is in essentially the same location.

LOMS still operates (on a much smaller scale) out of the owner's garage, I think.

You forgot the major South Main facelift of about four years ago. The former Stage department store is now Panera Bread and a jewelry store.

I was a fan of The Aztec, the Mexican restaurant that is ot Jed's.

I thought the theatre was where BCI is currently located.

Saw the "Color of Money" at that theatre with Jane T.....

No, he's right, the BCII (Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investation) is located where Great Scot used to be.

Mark's had the BEST garlic cheese bread...ever!! And had the best party after the team returned from Lake Placid with that National Championship trophy!! We all closed the place......then I had to get up and teach the next morning....feeling "slightly" hungover, but man was it worth it!!

Sundance used to SOP (Some Other Place) and was a GREAT party bar!!!

Sam B's and Becketts are owned by the same people. Both are named after Samuel Beckett.

No doubt, it was the place to be after any hockey game, but the most fun after a win!

The former Stage used to be Uhlmans. Wasn't there a Penney's downtown at one time too?

Isn't Kroger where Hart's used to be?

I think it might take up too much bandwidth if we tried to get all the former businesses that were in the current locations of BW-3, Nate & Wallys, and the spa that burned a week after opening.

Yeah, I forgot about Harts! I really liked that store too...that was quite a long time ago....I remember buying baby stuff in there when my 16 year old son was an infant!

And I think you are right about Penney's!! Was it where Uhlmans was? Was Uhlman's ever an Elder Beerman????

RE: Hart's

Post by transfer2BGSU »

When Hart's when out of business, didn't a Rinks go in there?

I remember when Hart's was going out of business, my mother gave me all of her stamps. I think I got 50 cents for every book of stamps. I think I ended up filling up more than 300 booklets. Bought a ton of shampoo, soap, toothpaste, etc....

BW-3: I remember the Rocky Rococo Pizza and Cassidy's (then he renamed it Some Other Place).

Rink's Bargain City was never where Hart's/Kroger is, that I can remember. But it does seem to me there was another store in there in between Harts and Kroger.

And the current Pharm used to be Foodtown and the defunct Foodtown used to be an Ames department store. And yet another FoodTown used to be in the plaza where Big Lots is now.
