Present Falcons handle alums in overtime

Post by bgsufn »

BOWLING GREEN — The past, present and perhaps future of Bowling Green State University basketball gathered at Anderson Arena yesterday. By the slimmest of margins, the present won out.

Several former Falcons traveled to Bowling Green yesterday to play in the first alumni game consisting of players from coach Dan Dakich’s era. Former players Len Matela, Josh Almanson, Dave Esterkamp, Brandon Pardon, Brent Klassen, Cory Eyink, Kirk Cowan, DeMar Moore, and Kris Wilson came for the festivities.

I liked the quote at the end about Erik Marschall gaining 30 pounds since arriving on campus last year. It also sounds like Samarco is taking on a leadership role on this team, which is really good to see.

Another story. What a great thing to see these former players coming back!

Marschall put on 30 lbs? NICE! That would put him around 265. One of the incoming freshman, Otis Polk, is nearly 300. GET HIM ON THE DEFENSIVE LINE!!!!!
Radivojevic put on 40??? What are these guys eating???

I am looking forward to this season...no idea what's going to happen but it will be fun!

Uh.........I kinda doubt tha Marschall is up to 265lbs. He might be up to around 245 or 250 at most. Marschall was only supposed to be around 215lb to 220lb last year. But if he is that big now, that is some serious needed beef in the front court. I just hope he isnt' slow as mollasses now or something. 40lbs for Rad is huge too. He should be a bigger, stronger, possibly faster, no definilty faster, quicker version of John Reimold for us this year. This next season should be quite interesting to say the least.

That sounded like it would have been a fun game to watch. Did anyone on here get a chance to see it themselves? I would have gone to it if I would have known about it and if it was open to the public. Anyone know if Sullivan played, and if so, how he looked? I'm anxious to see that kid play.

Uh..... FWIW, he's listed at 235 in the media guide. Not saying things couldn't change over the course of a season, or fat fingers get in the way typing up the guide, but that's the number we have to go with.

Either way, somewhere between 250 and 265 is getting us toward having size down low.

The article said Marschall has gained that weight since coming to BG. I had thought that he supposedly gained 15-20 pounds before last season even started, didn't he? I don't want to be too anal about a few pounds, but it was pretty obvious that Eric's size was his biggest weakness last year. If he did in fact gain some bulk he could be a real player for us, IMO.

I was thinking that his 'listed' weight might have been overstated last year so you can't add 40 lbs to that. Dakich may have been talking in real terms, not 'listed' terms. I doubt that Marschall is up to 265 as well, but any increase in bulk will be a benefit for him.
