I think they are building this on the wrong campus.

The Sebo...........

Actually looks like the design of the Wood County Libarary. Its almost as if the same designer that worked on the library got the gig to do the Sebo.

I know this may come as a shock...but BGSU is the most Aritecuraly challanged UNIV in the nation.

Most Schools would maintain a theme eith modern or stately...but bgsu is an eclectic hodgpodge of UgLY buildings, designed by some acid droping loonies, and build by the lowest bidder.

I guess that is our theme come to thinkg of it..BGSU is a popcult library of THE DESING and TRENDs of the Decades...all they need to do is truck back in from portage the log cabin original Union and bingo...its complete.

BGSU- our campus is desinged to ugly to bewilder our students.

That is the most incomprehensible thing I've ever read. But, grammar and respect for the English language aside, there are many of us out there that appreciate the architectural diversity that the BGSU campus provides. In fact, very few major universities actually have the kind of architectural cohesiveness that you are talking about anways (read: Miami (OH), Allegheny College, etc.), so I'm not sure exactly what your point is.

I love our campus, it is designed almost perfect. It was one of the major reasons I decided to come to BGSU out of state other than the fact that is the number 2 sport management school in the nation. It's not to big and it's not to small. I have a lot of friends at many different schools that I have visited and it's always nice to come back to BG. I think turdledo's campus is awful, I don't like OSU, Miami's is nice but to white collar for me. I didn't like Wisconsin's because you didnt know if you were on campus or downtown lol. And look at it this way, atleast our campus isn't all RED like nc states.

I hope BG sticks with the no-huddle offence this season. I can imagine the delay of game penalties now while Licten...ger debates the tinted glass effect with Partridge, big bird ponders why nobody thought to hang a target on the building for him to aim at, and Athony Turner refuses to go near the end zone because his helmet contrasts poorly with the brickwork.

Are we not men?

Or are we devo?

Why settle for one or the other? :)

Well, I'm glad BGSU tends to go with the lowest bidder. It is the law, for one thing. And the alternative would be to run BGSU the way Columbus has run the Bureau of Workers Compensation.

But, look, Student Services and the Jerome Library don't really work for pedestrians in the way their designers imagined. In that sense, they are failures.

But that doesn't make them ugly. Not at all.

When I first got a BGSU affinity credit card, the picture on the front was of Jerome Library.

It was a wise choice - and I got far more comments on that card than I do on the verison I have now, with Freddie and Frieda on it. Jerome is a building we should take pride in, the one I hope every visitor gets a good look at.

I think the same can be said for Moore and the Student Rec Center. The issue isn't how they look. The real flaw -- if there is a flaw -- is the big box philosophy on a campus that is not designed for cars.

In my view, the real architectural duds are the buildings no one carps about. West Hall for instance. It's an utterly forgettable building, thrown up in a hurry in glass and steel, much like downtown Cologne was after Allied bombers leveled it during World War II.

I do think some campus are very big on making sure every building fits with the last.

But I think there is something to be said for not trying to freeze ourselves in time. Real cities are organic, with each generation bringing ideas to the table and future generations improving upon those ideas to suit their needs.

In that sense, Bowling Green is very real. And it gets better every time I go back. Olscamp Hall, East Hall -- these aren't mistakes.

And neither is the Sebo. I really like the way it's gonna look. It fits BG.
