Kent Stats bans Facebook for Student Athletes

Gimme a break. I, to some extent, understand the argument that student athletes are ambassadors for a given institution. So, why not set suggested guidelines, and deal with offenders rather than making everyone stop using it.
Terrible idea.

I agree with the decision. Athletes should be able to troll for their own skanks around campus without needing Facebook's help.

Leave the technology to the kids that need help pulling tail. :-D

I have to agree with the First Amendment argument here, for the most part. I absolutely support the fact that they represent the Uni, but the Uni does not have the right to make them shut down.

Yeah -- that whole "protect them from themselves" argument is horses**t. They're big boys and girls. Why not just advise them not to put anything stupid on there about drinking or drugs or skipping class? Then if they break the rules, run 'em into the ground. Problem solved.

Well, playing a sport is a privilege and not a right protected by the Constitution.

You can either agree to abide by the rule or establish a Facebook account and go elsewhere to school. The students agree to abide by the university rules and regulations, not the other way around.

Exactly. The word "freedom" does not override the word "responsibility" in our culture, though there are many out there who wish it would.

Actually the KSU administration is a bunch of pansies and are letting their players go ahead and use Facebook again (with some stipulations).
