"quick" being the operative word here. hmmm.

I forgot about Schorejs being Browns property. Unfortunately for him and we, the BG faithful, Phil Dawson is about as entrenched as you can get, I think. But there's always the chance that his leg would impress enough to keep him on as a long FG kicker or kickoff specialist (I can't remember for sure, but didn't Dawson struggle with getting his kicks to the endzone last year?)

If nothing else, here's hoping he gives them reason to give him a good look so he can either hook on as a regular with another team, or be at the top of the Browns list if Dawson, say, breaks his arm making a tackle!!

His only shot is if the Browns want to carry a long FG kickoff specialist. You are right that Dawson's leg is less than extraordinary. However, he is one of the most accurate kickers in the league from 40 & in. I don't see him going anywhere any time soon.

Good luck to him though! It's always great to see some Falcons getting some shots in the NFL.

Agreed. I'd love for Derek to get a shot, hopefully with the Browns in some capacity, but I hope to see Dawson in a Browns jersey for many more years. Even accuracy aside, there are some things he brings that I wouldn't trade for anything, probably even a BG grad! Coming to mind is the onside kick a couple years ago (the week or two after the onside kick he "reversed" and Northcutt tippy-toed in bounds) where he rolled it ahead himself and covered it. Also the fake field goal last year where he got the first, but tried to stay in bounds and get to the goal line. And hell, the guy broke his arm on a big hit on a kick return! Dude's tough.

And don't forget that he scored the first TD in new Browns history!

okay, back to your regularly scheduled BG discussion. :D

I don't think that is entirely true. He did, however, score the first RUSHING TD in the new Browns history.

yeah, you got me there. '99 was a long time ago, and it was early in the morning. the first overall TD was a catch by KJ. (who, by the way, now must die! )
