Whaaaat??? 88 speed for Dan Macon? That is total crap. Macon is reportedly 4.3 or 4.4 40 guy at least. Macon should be a 92 speed.

I played as BG against OSU. Now I will admit I'm usually quite good at offense and struggle defensively in NCAA, and that held true in this matchup. I scored quite well throughout the game, but did stall on 4th down at the goalline in the first half and threw a pick at the goalline in the 2nd half. Otherwise I managed to put up 35 points on OSU's defense. The problem was I was not able to stop OSU's offense once. Actually, not even close. I think my opponent had 3 drives that were only one play. Pittman, Smith, and Gonzales are VERY good in the game, and this guy was rarely even throwing to Ginn who is also unbelievable. It didn't matter if I was going man, zone, or man with zone over the top every time he tried to throw my DBs were beaten handily. BG's DBs are very poor in the game...however, OSU's are also very poor and I was throwing at will as well. The difference was he was also able to bust off a lot of running yards, and BG's OL just couldn't stand up to OSU's DL to pound anything out.

As near as I could tell none of our new recruits are in the game. I have not started dynasty mode yet, because I'm waiting for the rosters to come available (I also have to purchase a method of transferring them onto the HDD).

Early impressions is that the game is a good time, and BG is (as I expect the real product to be) in a down year. Partridge, O'Drobinak, and Devon Parks are our "Impact Players". Partridge & Marques Parks can be studs in the passing game even though they come in at 79 & 80 respectively, both can make plays.
Kind a surprised at Partrige being only an 80 but he did get injured last year so that probably hurt. Devon Parks better be at least a 92.

I just purchased the 360 version today. EA did put a little effort into making BG authentic. If you select BGSU as your favorite team, it displays pictures of the Doyt, some BGSU cheerleaders, and several pictures of our very own Falcon Marching Band in the main menu. I assume they are publicity photos from the University, but it is a nice touch. On the flip side, you often hear fight songs from schools other than the two competing teams in-game. For example, while playing at home as BG, I heard "Hot Time in the Old Town Tonight" from Wisconsin several times. I wasn't playing aginst Wisconsin. I also heard several generic and random fight songs while playing a game in the 'Shoe. Not once did I hear "Buckeye Battle Cry" or "Across the Field", both of which were present in previous versions of NCAA. For shame, EA!

Oh well, I suppose that officialy makes me a geek, but that's okay.

FWIW, Devon Parks is an 89, not a 92. BG doesn't have a single player above 90, but that's not surprising. In past years only our superstars (Harris & Omar) have warranted those levels of ratings. It should be noted that the 360 has a LOT of different palyer attributes that are not in the older versions, so it's quite possible that the overall ratings of some players are different in the other versions.

As for the fight songs, I'm guessing that's something that EA didn't put real high on the to do list and didn't get around to implementing. I think EA did a pretty good job putting together a fun, playable version of the game. It doesn't have all the polish of the PS2 or XBox games, but you cannot really expect it to. Go back and play the PS2 game from like 2002. The gameplay looks very similar, and all they've done is tweak some graphics, animations, and AI. All the rest of their time has been spent adding features.

It will take a few years before they can get all those features added to the 360 game as well. It would probably speed up the process if they quit making it for the other systems, but I imagine that they'll make at least one more year on the older generation systems.

If i had a 360, I just couldn't justify $60 for a game that seemed to have less features than the older-gen brothers.

Agreed, especially when Herbstreit said today on his radio show basically the same thing. He said next year's version will be the real deal.

From what I've played so far I like the gameplay & graphics quite a bit better than last year's PS2 version. I'm also not much of a "feature" person. I buy the game for the game itself. The stadiums, fight songs, and extra feature modes are just icing on the cake that don't really make or break anything to me.

I quite like having the better graphics & gameplay a lot more than I would enjoy having a pseudo-Doyt & the fight song...I listen to the radio when I play most of the time anyways.

The 360 version does have the latest & greatest XBox Live support, and that's a pretty sweet feature for those that like online play. It's a helluva lot better than online on the PS2, even though PS2 is free.

Once you play games in HD w/ next-gen graphics, it's tough to go back.

I'll take the souped up version with the amazing graphics, gameplay, and online support and play over the old school version with a few extra fight songs and stadiums.

For all you wondering, I just got my hands on the PS2 version and the Doyt has been updated. The end zone stands are gone and both sides have been replaced by a chain link fence with backgrounds of trees...the north side has the cement platform of where the Sebo is going surrounded by trees, the south side has the scoreboard with trees behind it...no campus view but they made it look respectable , also...

THE NEW SCOREBOARD IS IN THE PS2 VERSION! AND IT LOOKS AMAZING! It's complete with the video board and even has the new BOWLING GREEN FALCONS font at the top, it's so freaking sweet, looks like the real scoreboard folks!

Also, the new BG football logo is in the PS2 game, it's not just the falcon head plain but has it with Bowling Green Falcons underneath it in the new font.

The Doyt has been fixed a little bit and looks more realistic. They sectioned the stands off with orange railings so you can actually see where the student sections divide from the regular sections. There's still 4 light towers on each side, but I think EA did that so that the game at night looked brighter. The press box also looked updated, didn't look so choppy. EA really did a awesome job at updating the stadium, I can't wait to see it when the Sebo is done on the next gen systems, oh baby. But yeah...the scoreboard looks amazing. Lots of Bowling Green logos plastered on it too, great job by EA for school publicity.

Gameplay is great, much better than last year. The momentum thing is pretty cool and the Doyt can crank up to about 40 decibels on a packed house, which I think is realistic. No Ziggy Zoomba or Freddy and Frieda, but these may be separate licensing issues. EA did a very nice job with this game, and I appreciate them making the Doyt look much better, I was very happy to see the updates, those end zone stands the last couple years were really annoying, obviously since they were removed from the real Doyt.

BG's prestige has also been bumped up from 2 to 3 stars, and the menu also shows some BG cheerleaders and such, a really nice touch to the game. Maybe Omar being here finally brought us some more reputation among the EA developers?

I hate this game...all the popups now when ever you click a button pre-snap, the way on FG's and punt it has a hugh constant reminder to "press triangle for third person view" or whatever it says. And what pisses me off theh most is the camera angle when you return a punt or kick. it takes away your peripheal (or however you spell it) vision, so you may think you havea nice little return going since you can't see any players in front of you, but here comes someone on your side and knocks you out. Is there a way to turn that off? Also thte jumping the snap thing sucks, I liked previous versions where you just pressed the down arrow to jump it.

I enjoy the game. The pop-ups at first were kinda of anoying, but you learn to ignore them after a couple of games. I don't know if you can turn off the 3rd person cam on the kickoffs, but I like it and have already returned 2 kicks back back I was better able to see openings rather than the game being far away. The way I see it, if a guy is looking straight ahead then he's not going to see who's beside him.

I'm sorry if this post was uber positive, but I've heard a lot of people ripping on the game for very small things.

I would like to know where EA got the idea that Anthony Turner is a left-handed quarterback.

The PS2 version is the greatest thing in the entire world! Oh man I cant get over how much better the Doyt looks! I do a replay after every snap just to look at how sweet the scoreboard and videoscreen looks! I LOVE YOU EA!!!!!!!! Ok I got to go play some more now, but I highly recommend it to anyone!
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

I know, it's great how nice the Doyt looks. I have to do some double takes to actually see if I can find any flaws and I really don't.
