SEBO Regressing?
Today there was scaffolding being put up in that area. I believe that they forgot to work on something in that area before that wall went up.

Isn't it possible they were just temporary particle board things that were temporarily needed to keep the weather off some element of what they were doing?BourbonFalcon wrote:I am curious as to why they are tearing down the walls. Or...
I know that in general, if you want to build big honkin' concrete pillars, you need to do it step by step by building wood frames to hold the concrete as it sets, then tear the wood away.
Sometimes, if you look closely at the concrete pillars in a parking garage, you can still see that wood grain in the concrete.

I wondered that at first as well, but I think it was a pretty substantial brick facade like what is encassing the elevator shaft but just in red brick instead. Besides, the rest of the structure does not appear to need any additional support of that kind. I think they just did something at the wrong time or made a slight plan adjustment.Schadenfreude wrote:Isn't it possible they were just temporary particle board things that were temporarily needed to keep the weather off some element of what they were doing?BourbonFalcon wrote:I am curious as to why they are tearing down the walls. Has anyone actually talked to the contractor?
Just curious.
Just curious.

Not imagining anything. Falconboys check bounced and the contractor wanted his money right then and there. So he took back his wall of bricks.Dayons_Den wrote:... but now I am certain that there was a front of the wall and now there is not.
My guess is Falconboy is spending too much time down in Arizona watching ESPN Ocho

I just wish someone would share some recent pictures of the place so we could see for sure.

Since I got abuse from Bleeding Orange in another thread concerning the deconstruction of the Sebo........ here's my 2¢ worth.
Not having seen any photos and the webcam is crap for providing any detail - anyone's guess is as good as the next. It could have been some temporary framing, it could have been a mistake, it could be a design change....... I don't know about the idea of concrete forms. From what I have seen of the building during BG's Youth Football Camp, there is little or no concrete in this project. The elevator shaft was finished when I saw the project and it is concrete block. They were flinging (offical construction term
) lots of steel when I saw the building.
Anyway
YOU"RE ALL A BUNCH OF SIDEWALK SUPERINTENDANT!!! GET BACK IN YOUR CAR AND LET THEM FINISH THE DAMN JOB!!!!
THAT OR PICK UP A DAMN HAMMER!!!
I have to say, as an architect (and contractors are the same) - we really try to stay away from all the sidewalk gawkers. It can get a little hairy.......
"Why's is it taking so long?"
"That's ugly - why did you do that?"
"They shouldn't be spending all this money on this..... we need the library fixed or a new science lab."
What would be hilarous would be for everyone to show up with a hard hat during homecoming. They cost about $7.00 at home depot. We all show up with a case a beer and our hard hats and volunteer to "crank this muther out during the game!" It would be a GREAT photo. Of course it would probably end up looking like this.........

I took this image specifically of the area of "deconstruction." Not sure if it's commonplace or not, but the I-beams are suspended by cable?? Plus there's some rough-in stuff popping up from conduits out of the ground, perhaps there was a wall built before the stuff was roughed-in... who knows... who cares?
It'll get done eventually!
