Buffalo Game Time Moved to 3:00 p.m.

Post by bgsufn »

From BGSU Falcons.com:

Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University athletic department has announced that the 2006 football home opener against Buffalo on September 9 will now kickoff at 3 p.m., instead of 6 p.m. as previously published.

This will mark the first time since the 2000 season (Pittsburgh) that BGSU will open its home schedule in the afternoon. The game also will be part of the BGSU Hall of Fame/Varsity BG Weekend and Faculty and Staff Day at Perry Stadium.

"It is a busy weekend not only for our department, but also in our community," said Assistant A.D. for Communications J.D. Campbell. "We want to have the biggest crowd possible for our home opener and with it also being Black Swamp Weekend, we believe this time change will help us accomplish that goal."

To purchase tickets for the 2006 season contact the BGSU Athletic Ticket Office at 877-BGSUTicket or order online at BGSUFalcons.com. Several season plans are available including $90 (Flex Plan), $75 (Chairback Reserved), $59 (Bench Reserved), $49 (BGSU Faculty/Staff/Retirees), $45 (Varsity BG), and $39 (Recent Graduate).

Faculty and Staff with a valid I.D. may receive up to four free tickets to the Buffalo game by visiting the BGSU Athletic Ticket Office in Memorial Hall.

This is rediculous. I am so tired of Black Swamp Festival dictating when we play football games. I mean, first of all it is allowing corporations like Black Swamp Festival to push us around that keeps us in the small time! I'm sick of Black Swamp Festival pushing us around thinking that they can do whatever they want. Second, people have already made plans, and this time change is going to throw all of that off. But, do you think Black Swamp Festival cares? No. Black Swamp Festival is only worried about their bottom line, and apparently our AD is worried about Black Swamp Festival's bottom line, too.

Irregardless, I'm getting really sick and tired of bending at every whim of Black Swamp Festival.

Well that sucks. Now we do not have even one Saturday home night game this year. Since when do we have to compete with the artsy-fartsy Black Swamp fest to get fans to a game? :x

No sarcasm in my post. I am truly pissed.

That's the game I'm hoping we can get to this game, regardless of the time.

I'm just pissed because I have a retreat to be at until 1:00 and I'll be rushed to get to the game. And no tailgating for the first home game?!? Yuck! :x

Let's cut the bullshit too. Everyone knows that time was changed because a certain school in Columbus is playing at Texas at 8:00 this very same day. Here we go bowing to the pressure of making sure our fans can get home in time to catch every second of the Buckeye's game. :x

I am afraid that might have a lot do with this. I was really looking forward to a night game in early September at the Doyt. Now, our only true night game at the Doyt is Miami...and that's on a Wed night in November.

Oh well...guess we'll be getting there about 11am instead of 2pm that day.

Although I totally agree--it makes me sick that we may have to alter our schedule as not to compete with OSU, but if it means more Falcon fans who are also OSU fans are at the game, I'm all for it. With only 4 true home dates, I'd like to see the maximum crowds possible. Just my opinion, I have little interest in the OSU game, I just can't wait to get back in the Doyt regardless of what time kickoff is.

DAMMIT

The one game I can get home for and my tailgate time is cut in half. Guess I'll be in the lot by 9:00.

Dammit a full day of tailgating then a night game under the lights is sooo much fun.

My disdain for OSU and their "pull" grows by the day it seems.

Bingo! Regardless how you feel about it, it's reality. We can schedule around it and have a good crowd, or schedule it at the same time and have a subpar crowd.

What makes more sense?

What about post-game tailgating? If Noah & I make our trip that weekend, I'd love to hang out after the game, too! The night games are fun, but after the autographs, Noah was out of gas last year.

Not to be crude, butt man...how many times are we supposed to take it up the ass this year? We get a four game home schedule, no Boise State, the best game is on a fricking Wednesday night and the Whisky game gets moved to the night which cuts my chances to party in Cleveland.

Damn you, damn you, damn you all to the flaming pits of hell BGSU athletic department!!!

Dan -- I'm gonna have to agree with ya on that. Being selfish I'd love to be able to tailgate all day.
