Not to mention...I bet someone is doing a little more research on this subject! Think about it! This is one of the most important aspects of a college organization and with consistantly going into debt every year just from our sports programs due to the makeup of the BCS system; I'd say that this is really a subject to keep in tune to! Universities, sports programs shut down because of this accounting issue! Look at the University of Tampa that used to have a football team, and I really think the school shut down!

Check this out! OSU, Mich, Mich St. and Indiana just 9 years ago was at Buffalo's mark or just below the $500 billion mark. The other question here is momentum and how schools gain endowment because IMO regardless of the organizations sports program, an overall competitive endowment is always going to be good for a school! What are the chances of a school losing programs due to lack of funding with an endowment over a Billion? THINK BG Fans! WHATUP!?

Top three likely factors that contribute to large endowments.
1) Age of school; pretty simple logic there.
2) Degrees offered, (Particularily professional degrees), alumni make more money, give more money.
3) Number of ALumni/Size of school

Also consider, the quality of athletic programs contributes to the size of an endowment before the endowment contributes to athletics. i.e. UK has a tradition of basketball excellence, that influenced people to give money to UK who probably didn't even go to the university. So essentially having top sports teams, back in the early to mid 1900's when college sports was becoming mainstream helped those schools endowments. This time was also before Athletic departments became the monstrous beasts they are today.

Now a days a good athletic team will spurr donations straight to the athletic department, and possibly take away money that would go to helping increase the endowment. It would be much better to find out what the giving trends are to each university's athletic department in the MAC.

hey maqi... if you enjoy getting into confrontations, i'd suggest joining a boxing club. If you can't speak without getting worked up, I'd also suggest not posting comments that are moot. Oh, one other thing to consider is taking some courses on grammar and putting a sentence together in a manner that can be read and understood. Check your last post my friend. HAVAGOODDAY!
