Odds On

Post by ZiggyZoomba »

Well, I guess this is the best place to post this.

Jason Cash, a member of the FMB drum line in the early 90's, and his barbershop quartet called Odds On, just took FIRST PLACE in the Johnny Appleseed District of the Barbershop Harmony Society competition!

Jason is a member of this site (aka, the Flash) but doesn't post much. I know a lot of us know him...so I thought I'd share his excitement with everyone here. He was a member of Men's Chorus as well.

Their performance is available at:

They are awesome!!! My favorite barbershop quartet has to be the acoustix but all quartets are amazing! I actually have been trying to find some people to get one together and sing the National Anthem before a bball game here but I've had no luck so far!

We were obviously very pleased with how the contest ended up. Thank Grant for posting it.

I did miss being at Homecoming and seeing all of you. It was the first time I've ever missed it completely since I was in school, only the 2nd time in which I didn't march. Sounds like I didn't miss out on the crappy weather though.

Anyway, take care, and I hope to see many of you at the A-Band game (A stands for "Athletic" Band, not "Alumni" Band -- maybe we should call it the Alumni Athletic Band, or AA-Band, or maybe not).

You know Mike...I might be interested in this. I can sing bass or bari. I've never sung in an organized group, but I think I'm musical enough that with a little practice, we could do it. How cool would it be to get an ay-ziggy-zoomba.com quartet together for a basketball game National Anthem?!?!?!? I'll see if Jason might be interested in doing it too and/or giving us some pointers.

Let's do this!!!

I'm game to give it a shot. I sang bass in high school. Haven't sang much in recent years except for a few little gigs as back-up for some New Years Eve events.

Well here's the problem so far...I'm a bass/low bass so right now we are still short on the high stuff? Who wants to take a nut shot for the team?? :P Honestly Grant, I was thinking students but you have a great idea! I'd love to have a AZZ.com quartet! I mentioned in my post that I liked the Acoustix...I posted their version of the SSB on my site if anyone wants to listen! Here is the link...

Yeah, I would definitely be interested in singing the national Anthem at a Men's B-Ball game if we could make it work. Unfortunately I too am a Bass in my quartet. I suppose I could do Bari or maybe even Lead - I dunno though, that's a pretty high part come to think of it... My Tenor blows though.

If you wouldn't mind having a girl in the group to sing the tenor part...you can count me in. I'm an alum also...I think singing at a mens bball game would be outstanding!

Sorry, I've been unable to read the site much lately. I'm really psyched about this!! I think we should do it! I may be more bari than bass... Jason, what do you think? :-) I think we can do this!! If you think we can, let's plan a get togheter and work it through, see if it's actually doable, then I'll talk with the powers-that-be about getting us the gig!! (I'm thinking that won't be a problem)

Thanks for the great website, Jason. Of course, my wife is now listening to it and swooning. She is probably wishing she married a vocalist...
