Interesting. I didn't realize MacMan was a UT fan. You do know he started the thread about Bruce......called Bruce Gradkows? Or are you talking about another Bruce thread on here that I missed?

Ehh -- my mistake. I thought the other guy started that thread. It was the UT fan that got you all riled though.

Tell me -- is there a certain buzz word or phrase that throws you into "defender of truth" mode? I'd like to know so I can be sure to avoid it in the future.

I'm just curious how somebody who is a smart as you are can speak about jealousy with a straight face on somebody else's board.

I guess this doesn't count as an Omar thread...

Looks like NCAAbbs.com is down because I can't get to that link. I assume it is probably a thread that didn't start out with Omar talk and then some people started talking about him?
You assume wrong again. The topic is about Omar "Struggling"

You know, I just watched a tape of this game and I have to say that I couldn't help but feel that I was watching the '04 Oklahoma game. Omar came out in the first series and was evidently nervous, throwing two terrible quick routes, just like in Norman. Then he comes out in the next series and is making decisions and moving in and out of the pocket like a veteran - again, just like in Norman.

Omar is going to make all of us very, very proud in the NFL.

Omar.....

Post by Falconboy »

Did very well for such a short time to deal with in the 4qtr. The time that Boyd got flabergasted me. I was watching the game at a friends house who told me that Omar was done since Boyd came out after Batch instead of Omar. Fuming I told them its the 1st stinking game of the pre-season and I wasn't about to write off Omar just yet cuz of that.

If Omar keeps doing what he did the 2nd and following series of Sat.'s game he's be fine and should solidify the 3rd spot. Omar needs more time though in the game though. Next game , if Omar does't get at least a qtr and a half, I'll be worried.

My education at BG was fantastic. I'm a little stunned you would leverage that angle, RF, but it's cool. I'm rather surprised you're over here as much as you are. It seems as though UT fans have their individual work cut out for them with their little puppy friends forcing some sort of ancient rivalry upon them. ;-)

Very true. We should be worrying about NIU now. BG started their slide last year and are nowhere near the talent level UT has to worry about. Thanks for reminding me. :P
I think it's pointless to discuss Omar vs Bruce cuz I want both of them to make NFL rosters...I want every MAC player that gets a chance to make an NFL roster. I've always given Bruce the respect cuz he has "it". Maybe he isn't the most gifted QB but his desire and determination are up near the top.

And BG isn't near the talent level of UT? C'mon now, rf. You know that isn't true. BG has more speed than ever before and our recruiting has been excellent. While we lack in game experience to start the '06 season(I won't deny that), we don't have a lack of outstanding talent. But believe what you want.

Was able to catch the game on NFL Network. Great, great job by Omar. It was announced before hand that Boyd would be the 3rd qb to play, so that wasn't too surprising from my point of view. I was very happy with Omar's play, esp as a Steeler fan! Although, he'll probably never play for the Stillers, but like someone else here said, he'll make some NFL team pretty happy.

Strange seeing him in those unis, wasn't it? Loved the screen play, we've seen that before.

Yeah, no doubt! My dad kept saying, 'his hair is too long'. I guess he was worried Omar was going to lose one from a tackle...

Oh how I long for the on-campus days when I had cable. Did anybody happen to record this and have the video to post on youtube or some other site?
I'd love to see it.
Because of my lack of cable/satellite/anything but a small antenna for my TV, I was forced to simply follow the stats on NFL.com.

I watched the game on NFL Network yesterday. It was obvious to me that Omar is not comfortable under center yet. A couple of times I didn't think he was going to make the pivot in time to get the ball handed off to the running back. But, when they put him in the shotgun during the two-minute drill he looked more like his old self.

Boyd played with more poise...the result of having a year in NFL Europe under his belt. However, he had no touch on the ball. Some of the passes he did complete were products of his receivers making great catches on balls that were thrown too high, too hard or both.

Omar will be fine once he gets acclimated to the NFL. Once the terminology gets easier and once he starts feeling comfortable under center we'll see the real Omar. We should see him and Boyd flip flop rotations in Saturday's game with Minnesota. Omar is not out of the woods yet, and he will still struggle mightily against a first or second team defense. But, I think he is showing enough promise for the Steelers to take a chance on him developing. They'd rather he do it with them than with another team.

Hence the name big guy...and clearly not a ut fan or I might have time out of my dyslexic life to spell it right.
Bruce is now a represenitive of the MAC and will be for all time, as well as UT. I hope he does very well and NFL announcers are forced to become MAC historians.
Football first...any game any time...Then my beloved Steelers, then any college game, then the MAc, any mac game, then the IRISH, then give me some HS football or pop warner to get my fix, its all good...except the blemish of the BCS and the bowl system which rewards champions along side the failures.
ill put my green and white glasses and support the mac any time.
