I am not getting too excited about this one. When Krenzel went down in 2003, it actually improved OSU's game.

I know that Stocco set Wisconsin records last year, but those records were ripe for that. Besides, I think Stocco would have been nowhere near as successfull had defenses not needed to stack the line of scrimmage in order to stop Brian Calhoun.

Having a different QB might actually improve their offense. We'll just have to wait and see.

Go Falcons!

Update

Post by BigAppleBucky »

Recent news is that there is a strong hope that Stocco will only miss a couple of weeks of camp.

This still hurts Wisconsin because we have a bunch of young inexperienced receivers who needed to get reps with the #1 QB.

It looks like he'll play that first game, but we'll see.

The UW running game will be different this year. More power less finesse as P J Hill, a big tailback, is penciled in as starter. (He wasn't the #2 back last season as a true frosh due to an injury received late in camp) Right now it's beginning to look like Lance Smith, a true frosh, will be the #2 TB. - He's more in the mold of a third down back. Quicker, etc.

I'm guessing more of UW's running plays will be between the tackles than last year when Calhoun ran wide effectively.
Bring back the Bucky Wagon, and
ON, WISCONSIN!

Last year, any play between the sidelines was effective.

Here's hoping for improvement!

Thanks for the update. I have a feeling Stocco will be ready to go against BG.....just a hunch. But if he doesn't play, this game will take on sort of a weird similarity for boths teams if boths starting QB's are out for the game (obviously Turner is out for BG), and both stars of last year's shootout (Jacobs for BG, Calhoun for UW) have left early for the NFL.

No doubt, Calhoun just torched us last year. I know Jacobs had a helluva game too for BG as well, but if Calhoun would have been playing at Colorado and not at Wisconsin last year, I think BG "could" have won. But, he didn't, and BG didn't.
