Suisham and Dallas

Post by bgmaggot00 »

Well, I just turned on the Cowboys-Seahawks game here, and got to see Suisham take a kickoff just before halftime. I don't know what else he's been doing, but the kick got back to the 2 yard line, but withouth the most hangtime, but it still looked pretty decent.

EDIT: Just took a second kickoff, just after halftime. This one was back to the 3, and the announcers are talking good things of him, esp. due to the Groin issues that Vanderjact (sp?) has been experiencing.

In a related note, the halftime announcer for the show Paul _______ was apparently a place kicker at BG too. How bout that.

I was wondering how he did, because of the lack of any sort of premium TV service and a barely worthwhile antenna, I missed most of the preseason games. I checked the stats on NFL.com, though and I think it said Suisham hit a 34yd. FG.
I'm glad to see him back on the field. I loved watching him kick when he was here and I was so happy to see him last season. Hopefully they continue to give him chances and he can shine in the NFL.

Suisham's the man, I hope they hang on to him or that someone else picks him up. Isnt he like the all time leading D-1 leader in career XP's made?
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

I wouldn't doubt it. He had plenty of opportunities with the offenses during his years, and personally, I can't remember the guy missing a damn thing any time I watched him.

Suisham is a rare case. He can make football his life for the next 15 years. Any injuries happen in the NFL he can be a spot starter. While not there he can kick in the CFL or AFL.

Many players have to give up the dream when they arent being picked up, with Suishams northern ties he won't.

I think eh will always be the 33rd best K in the league. No team will ever invest in him as the sole option because his leg strength does not allow for it. But he will always be the adequate guy to throw into the mix in an emergency.

My guess is Paul Silvi. He kicked at BG in 85-86, and was/is a sports anchor in Seattle and has done sideline work for Seahawks telecasts.

I remember Paul well. A great guy. He actually wrote for The BG News while playing football. His piece in the wake of the California Bowl debacle was excellent.

Suisham's kicks landed at the 8, 2, 3 and 2 with decent hang time. Not a bad showing considering Vanderjact's groin injury, inconsistency in camp, and unwillingness to even do kickoffs.

As for another MAC player making noise in Cowboys camp, Sam Hurd (NIU) has been nothing short of spectacular and could very well make the 'Boys as a UDFA. http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports/nf ... otege.html

Yes he is. 226 out of 232.

Paul Silvi had to be the halftime host. He was the kicker in 1986 when I attempted to walk on as the kicker. Was told I had a strong leg but....

What the heck? It was worth a shot.

Suisham was very similar to Jason Strasser, who kicked for the Falcons in the late 90's. Jason didn't have the biggest leg in the world but was accurate...very accurate. I remember him nailing 47 and 45 yd FG's at OSU in 1997...right down the middle. Strasser was a heck of a kicker as well. I'll bet he didn't get half the XP chances Suisham did.

And Suisham had that hot GF. :D

With that offense, almost any kicker would have done the same. I will say, Shaun has way exceeded my expectations in the NFL.

226 of 232 is so awesome. I hope he keeps that record. I dont want that goofy guy from Louisville to take it away from a BGSU Falcon! And for the record I would take a consistent accurate kicker with no distance, over a big boomer anyway. PU had Travis Dorsch a few years back and he re-wrote a ton of kicking records for Purdue and could easily hit from 60. But he single handedly lost us the Sun Bowl against UGA with 2 missed PATs!!!!!!!

Too bad Dallas has their depth chart in Alphabetical order.

But, he's still on there anyway.

Go Falcons!
