We dont have much depth there, and as bad as Van Johnson was at times last year at covering, I could see him overtaking him and getting some playing time in our nickel and dime defensive packages!
Could Van play RB?

I think that is a possibility for Van. He certainly knows the offense from his time at QB, so much like Barnes he would be able to step in and understand the play calling, and bring some experience to the position if the injury bug arises. I hope Van gets some playing time somewhere because he certainly can contribute, he just never has really had a chance to settle in and show what he can do at a particular position!

I wouldn't bet on Van moving, unless it's as an emergency QB.

I agree with that too 1987, we are thinking for of if the injury bug hit us what would we do. I think Van is safe at CB, but I would be surprised if Brown and/or Corner dont beat him to a #3 spot!

Macon looks good in practice - good cuts and speed. Bullock is coming along nicely after sliding through his red shirt year. Bullock is a load, has good speed and balance from what I have seen.

Ok I didnt read all the posts but the concern seems to be our secondary. How many people have actually looked at the first 6 games of the season? We all know about game #1 and #6, but look at the middle. FIU is the biggest offensive threat and thats only because they put up 56 on another bad team last year and OU is the best of the bunch, but only averaged 17 points last year.

We dont need an experience secondary til after OSU. By then they should be a hard hitting, big play making group to be feared for years to come.

I think with the proper game plan we can go 6-0 in these games. THATS RIGHT WE CAN BEAT OSU! I know all you BUCK fans remember the fluke championship year when they should have lost to SDSU and BGSU. I dont see any kickers named nugent on this years team.

Now before you get your red and silver panties.. um i mean boxers in a bunch, im not saying BG is a better team then OSU. I am saying that if we have the perfect game plan and execute this plan then we will have a great opportunity to win.
I hate toledo

OSU's championship was in '02, BG played there in '03, but still was right in there till the end.

I don't know that I *totally* share your confidence in this year's team in Columbus, but I do think they'll bring alot more than is expected out of them. The '03 trip to the Shoe was very special, with hordes of experience on the field and a win at Purdue in their pocket. This year, I think alot of questions will be asked and answered in the first month to see what might be in store in Columbus.

I do like the enthusiasm, though! :D

If BG beats OSU I'll be serving Filet Mignon for all at the next Tailgate.

And an assortment of bugs to be eaten ;)

Well, lets hope so! BG made some investments in that area this year that will hopefully pay dividends. :D

Other position changes to note...

Goodwin to fullback and Mack to offensive line...

Goodwin to fullback? What gives? That would give us three "big" backs, presumably fullbacks - Winovich, Van Denmark and Goodwin. Does this signal a significant shift in offensive philosophy?

weight does not matter. Never look at the weights of the backs. Never!
