You all know what I'm talking about right -- they just put one into Browns Stadium -- a short ribbon of a scoreboard that goes round the bottom of the second deck with pizazzy colors and all that.
I wonder what those cost?
Putting one in the Doyt would *really* make a statement.
We probably have better uses for that kind of money -- but a ribbon scoreboard could distract from some of the other issues out there we've all talked about.

I think that would be a good addition but where would it go. I have seen them on stadiums with a second level. We don't have that set up here. While it would be nice I think focusing on increasing the size of our current videoboard, ie Miami, would be a better way to spend that money.

Around the top.orangeandbrown wrote:Where would it go?
Might have to add a couple three feet to the walls at the top to make it work.
It's possible these things aren't that expensive.
American Electric Power recently put something similar on the top of their downtown Columbus tower. I don't know if AEP's version could handle text -- but it looks fantastic having colors swirl around the top.
Obviously, we can all think of things that are more important -- better fencing, better concessions, a better video board.
But no one in the league has anything like this -- and it would distract from the things we don't have.
Wonder what they cost.

Not a bad idea, but I have always thought that we should spend some money and get a NICE*** scoreboard and possibly video screen to put on the outside of SEBO!!! Wouldnt that look sweet?
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

Thingis, we just got a videoboard. I can't possibly imagine us getting another one for a decade, at least.BGSUFootballFan wrote:Not a bad idea, but I have always thought that we should spend some money and get a NICE*** scoreboard and possibly video screen to put on the outside of SEBO!!! 300 K easy
You are talking 300K easy for both sides of the Doyt. I just got done pricing them for fifth third field in Toledo. They are not as cheap as you would think. As far as the location, you pretty much have to have a second deck to put it on. If you placed it at the top of the stadium it would be next to impossible to read anything that would be put up on it. I'd much rather see that kind of money go into some kind of Falcon Football Weekly Tv show that would involve player interviews, scouting reports, and practice - game highlights. I know we have the GB show.... but it's incredibly boring to hear one persons take on every play from the previous weeks game.
That's my take.
That's my take.

HAD the GB show. At least from a TV standpoint. They stopped doing that prior to last season, it's just radio now.destroyer wrote:I know we have the GB show.... but it's incredibly boring to hear one persons take on every play from the previous weeks game.

Actually, that isn't bad at all.destroyer wrote:You are talking 300K easy for both sides of the Doyt. I just got done pricing them for fifth third field in Toledo. They are not as cheap as you would think.
This could be. I haven't stood at the top of the stadium in a while. The walls may be too low.... for now.As far as the location, you pretty much have to have a second deck to put it on. I miss the TV show Falcon Football with Gregg Brandon. They would play it on directTV so I could always pick it up and it watch. Yeah it was pretty bad compared to other ones I've seen, but it was a heck of a lot better than nothing. One episode shows the only video footage of the Purdue game that I have ever seen! So of course I have that one saved so that I can watch at least part of the game. Lord knows I'd give one of my taters to have the entire game on VHS. As for the Videoboard, I think it is unlikely to see us get one, but if we were ever to add another scoreboard or videoscreen or playclock or anything along those lines, I would love to see it be placed somewhere on the outside of SEBO center!
