Did not bother to look to hard to see if this has been posted, so if it has just go a head and delete it to save folks the trouble.
PJ is #2 on the Bears Depth Chart
http://www.chicagobears.com/team/depth.jsp
and lots of folks are excited about him and how he has learned the O and grown so fast in such a short period of time. Sister has heard folks talking on the train about him even, and a reference to BGSU's ability to find recruite and develop players larger schools are over looking.

Holy ####!

He passed Cedric Benson and Thomas Jones!

(or maybe the depth chart is wrong.)

Edit: Looks like that was the depth chart for the Chargers game.
I'm not as cool as Tony Gaver, nor will I ever be.

Well, he's past them right now since they're both injured.

When everyone is healthy, I would assume the 3 backs for Chicago would be Benson, Jones, and Peterson. I don't know if they plan on keeping four backs on the 53 or not.

i would think that with a healthy Benson and Jones Pope would have more of a chance. Also if the injuries were more long term then just nagging. at this point you almost have to keep Peterson over Pope because he is a veteran and the backup RB position for the Bears is one who may be forced to play alot.

Oh yea, totaly. Those two are injured remeber, PJs good but he has a little ways to go before they loose out to PJ, but if they are not 100% and PJ is #2 and producing in the reg season they may just let him keep going, via the "its working well, why fix it"
He has fallen into an opurtunity here. The word i have read and heard over and over is that the Bears are going to carry 4 RBs maybe even stretch it 5 into the reg season, and that PJ will NOT be made avail via the Practice squad hes to good, and with the worry about Cedric and Thoma posiibly having recurring injuries this season they cant aford to be with out backs.

I also believe Cedric may not even be ready untill week 2 or 3 of the reg season depending on how his shoulder is healing.
Jones hamstring may be heaing but his future looks rocky in chicago
BOURBONNAIS, Ill. - An MRI exam confirmed that Thomas Jones has only a mild hamstring strain, but it's not known when the veteran running back will return to practice.

"Hopefully he'll be back fairly soon," coach Lovie Smith said after Friday's practice. "But we don't know exactly how long that will be. It will be good to see him back out on the field."

Injured running back Thomas Jones watches a drill during Friday's practice in Bourbonnais.
Jones hurt his hamstring while running during a physical exam early Thursday morning. For the second straight day, he stood on the field during practice, chatting with teammates and coaches.

"Thomas is a pro," Smith said. "Everybody here knows their role. He's one of our team members and what more can you say besides that?

"We're just going to get him treatment and try to get him back on the field as quickly as we possibly can, which he is trying to do. We need him to help us win this coming season."

After skipping the voluntary portion of the Bears' offseason program, Jones worked primarily with the No. 2 offense behind Cedric Benson during the team's mandatory minicamp in June.

When asked about an ESPN.com report that the Denver Broncos had called the Bears to inquire about trading disgruntled wide receiver Ashley Lelie for Jones, general manager Jerry Angelo said: "I'm not going to get into trades. I'm not going to get into any of that. If we've got something to announce, I'll visit with you."

Asked whether Jones was available for a trade, Angelo told reporters that his main concern is on the upcoming season and not the status of individual players.

"We're focused on the season right now," he said. "I'm not focused on Lance Briggs. I'm not focused on Thomas Jones. I'm not focused on Olin Kreutz. I'm focused on the team and our opener with Green Bay. That's where our focus as an organization is right now. All that other stuff is done prior to it, so that's where we are right now."

The Bears have long maintained that they need at least two quality running backs to make it through the rigors of an NFL season.

"You can't have enough good players at any position," Angelo said. "We have three good running backs and we're happy we have them, (but) if there's a situation where we feel we could upgrade our football team, we're certainly going to look at that situation. But right now this is the hand we're dealt and that's the hand we're playing."

Moments after discussing Jones' value to the Bears, Smith was asked by a reporter whether the seventh-year running back was being shopped to other NFL teams.

"You heard me talking about Thomas a little while ago about what he means to our football team and we can't wait to get him on the field," Smith said. "There was nothing about, 'We can't wait to get him out of here.' Thomas is a valuable part of our team. I'm sure a lot of teams would like to have Thomas Jones. We're one of them. We're glad we have him."

When asked about Jones expressing his displeasure with his situation back in April or May, Angelo said that he has no control over the running back's state of mind.

"I can't make a guy feel something," said the Bears general manager. "In the end, he knows what he has to do. It's about business now and he knows what we expect of him and what he expects of himself. It's about team and us being the best team we can be."

I am just happy for PJ being in the right place at the right time, and being seen for as good a baller as he is.
not to mention hes touched the ball 74 times...

KC, it sounds like the Bears like PJ Pope as a backup next year to Benson and Peterson (assuming Jones gets traded). Do you think they'll try and avoid showcasing him in preseason games to hide him from teams looking to pick up a RB after cuts? --Chris Cahlamer, Milwaukee

Nah. The Bears don't do players like that. They do like Pope, but he has no chance to beat out any of the three incumbents.

Hate to say it but I'd have to agree with this KC person. Even after Pope's good outings he could still see himself on the PS unless the Bears do indeed intend to keep upto 4 or 5 rb's.

It could mean that they're serious about keeping him or it could be that they want him to take the shots so the incumbents don't get banged up in preseason. Either way it's good for PJ because even if the Bears cut him, there's going to be a ton of film for other teams to evaluate him with,

Honestly, I think PJ looks better than Peterson. At least PJ is willing to block for the blitz. Peterson let the QB get destroyed several times.
