For someone who talks about how immature we are here you align yourself with your cracks on BGSU. Which side of the fence are you on? I was just about to agree with you on the whole OSU thing. It is one of the reasons I didn't post for a while. One can root for as many teams as they want, but don't expect not to take some crap if you root for one team on anothers fan board.Buckeyeskickbuttocks wrote:Off topic, but what can I expect from BGSU this year? Last year, I had you guys winning the MAC, but sadly this year, I have not had enough time to really get to know anything about the MAC...
Now, at least you are asking about the conference and not just putting blanket statements out there based on presumptions. I think the biggest change in the MAC this year will an imporvement in the bottom feeders. They will finally start to rise from the muck.

OSU fans on that one site I went to were absolutely absurdedly pro OSU and could not function outside of the idea that everything was not perfect. It was scary. In here we discuss...Hey we might need a better kicker. At that site. No way. Here we discuss. Greg Brandon lacks ability here. On that site when you have the words Jim Tressell and lacks in the same sentence you are banned.
And sweets, for the record. I stated that I was confused about the kicker. So obviously I accepted I was wrong.
And also, Who said it was bad that other schools were discussed?

Ummm... what'? I was being serious, I'm on your board now, having not been here for over a year, and since I haven't researched the MAC or BG, I was hoping someone "in the know" would tell me what's going on this year. It's the Journey... wrote:For someone who talks about how immature we are here you align yourself with your cracks on BGSU. I'm just confused as to why the pro-OSU folk are arguing a point that wasn't even made in this thread.
The point of this thread is that the OSU forum being alluded to is nuts because no idea outside of "OSU is great" is allowed. Everybody over there agrees and fondles everyone else and it's sickening. This was used to show how cool this site is because we have lots of differents folks with lots of different ideas and opinions that usually mesh pretty well.
In response to this, the OSU faithful start arguing a bunch of other different topics. And you guys wonder why the OSU threads always devolve into pissing matches.

Well, for one thing, we do discuss Ohio State's short comings. It was obvious from your posts you were there to bash, and if you weren't then you didn't pick a very good strategy to begin to talk candidly about Ohio State.MatelaAntwerp wrote:OSU fans on that one site I went to were absolutely absurdedly pro OSU and could not function outside of the idea that everything was not perfect. Dissenting opinion is welcome at buckeye planet... flaming is not... and there's a fine line. You've admitted here that you were doing some kind of expierement, so it seems to me we pegged you right.
If you want to talk about Ohio State's short comings, fine... But, don't go registering TedGinnTD and then talking about how TG is overrated. It's transparent,.

Here is a civil conversation about the Buckeyes.
OSU had talent at QB. I love Troy Smith.
Beyond him they are completely overrated.
They have nine returning starters.
On Offense they lost their best wide receiver, their two best lineman and a TE. They lost a great kicker too.
On Defense they lost their ENTIRE back 7 and 2 lineman. They are a shell of the team they were last year. A shell.
Ted Ginn, IMO is the most overrated player in the country. Blazingly fast, not a waterbug and not a great pass receiver. 4 tds reveing last year. 4!
Jim Tressell is annointed as flawless and a saint and is honored for his integrity. Has he ever been at a program not investigated for something by the NCAA?
I expect OSU to be 8-5/9-4. I expect all the teams listed as potential Champions to not be in the top 6 teams by the end of the year. ND, Oklahoma, USC, Texas and OSU all have huge holes. Huge. This year is about overhyping the known commodities from the last few years and not discussing the teams that will likely be the real contenders for the championship...WV, Auburn, Iowa etc. I have no idea. Thats the point. The guys who get paid to know should know who is good. And I know its not going to be those 5 teams. They have the most talented single players and most well known players....thats it.
Has a team ever had more wins in a season than starters returning?

Oh, and I guess I should add, TedGinnTD... there is a lot of reason to be hyped down here in buckeyeville this year... OSU is ranked #1 as you probably know. Excuse us for enjoying it.
You want to prove OSU fans are arrogant assholes? Fine. I can't stop you. But, why don't you caution your research against some reality.

So If you register and pick your favorite player for your name, you can't question him then. Ted Ginn is my favorite OSU player. He is not a great wide receiver. I posted on the thread that was discussing Anthony Gonzalez. I stated that Anthony Gonzalez was OSU's best pass receiver. A better RECEIVER than Ted Ginn.Buckeyeskickbuttocks wrote:Well, for one thing, we do discuss Ohio State's short comings. That is exactly the point we were making. There are grey areas here and none in Buckeyeland. None. I was kicked off for not saying that Ted Ginn was the best receiver ont he Buckeyes. Thats hilarious.

I have no idea, to answer your question. I doubt it, but I don't know.MatelaAntwerp wrote:Here is a civil conversation about the Buckeyes.

So, you don't like OSU's ranking. Fine. I'm certainly not one to say that the friggin pollsters are Gods..
But, I will say that you're being a little hard on OSU's O. If Holmes had returned, there would be hardly any question... but, A-Gone and TG are a very solid 1 2 punch... YOu mention Troy.. he gives OSU a great many options. The offense should be as good as advertised, if you ask me. And I am saying that as "non homeristcly" as I can.
The D does replace a lot of people, and that is a very serious problem. I am hopeful that the LBs OSU has this year are as good as advertised. I'm not so worried about the Defensinve backfield because OSU has landed very good DBs since Shawn Springs was in town. Of course, they're young and will make some mistakes. But. come on.. 8 - 5?
Who does OSU lose to?
I'd accept Texas, Iowa, and maybe Michigan... Although, I think Michigan is now John Cooper's Buckeyes, in all honesty.
I'll castrate myself with a powersander before I ever root for Michigan.

Didn't you just say Troy Smith was your favorite buckeye? Maybe I just read you wrong.MatelaAntwerp wrote:

And, yes, you can question Ginn's WR capabilities... But, you should let yourself build a bit of a non toxic reputation before you come out guns ablazin... and lets not forget, the cats out of the bag.. you freely admitted you were doing some little expierement, so I don't know why you're defending your actions now as if you were some sort of innocent.

You don't know why he's defending his actions? Could it be that you have followed him over here from your scarlet and grey paradise to chastize him?
I love those of you around who dig BG and OSU, but I am continually blown away by the arrogance and ignorance of Buckeye fans. Its astounding, really.

Not allowed? Have you read the Texas thread? Have you read the NIU thread?Jacobs4Heisman wrote:I'm just confused as to why the pro-OSU folk are arguing a point that wasn't even made in this thread.

Look, buckeye planet is a buckeye site... plain and simple.. it's populated primarily with Buckeye fans... of coruse there is going to be a lot of agreeing with eachother. And, no one is saying you've gotta sign up there and enjoy yourself. I don't get what the big deal is.. if you don't like the way our board conducts our business, go to a different board.
We're not trying to make sure every other team's fan site thinks we are something special. We, like you do here, come to talk about the stuff we like to talk about. Make a big deal of it if you wish.. I suppose if I jung out on this board long enough, I could find out some similarities to the same things you hate about our board.
At the end of the day, I don't know why anyone would care less, though,.
