Resize Images

Post by da3mite »

Ever since starting on Ay-Ziggy-Zoomba.com I haven't really figured out a way to resize photos in the format that it needs to be in (10 kb). My picture to the left is resized by putting in irfanview, but it's really small. How do you guys get them so big, but still under the limitations?

Thanks.

I have that same problem, dont know what to say other than try saving it under a different format, like bitmap, instead of jpeg.

save it as a GIF, that will give you the smallest file size for what you are looking for.

(by the way, what does this have to do with football? )

If you've got photoshop you can "save for web" instead of the normal "save", there are various options under that. Also try to save as a GIF or BITMAP, those two formats are known to be smaller in size. Good Luck.

Thanks for the help.

I posted here because this is where most people are so I would have the best chance for a good response.

Gettin a little better!

I know I had trouble with it for the longest time, and finally figured it out once by accident. I think it depends on what kind of picture you're starting out with, too.

Here's your original picture re-sized to fit as an avatar.

I know there is a sense of "independance" when making your own avatars and such, but if you ever have a pic you just can't get or an idea for an avatar feel free to drop me a personal message, and I"d be happy to try and design one for anyone on the board. Of course, that is if none of my designs linked below don't fit your needs. . . :D

First, I cropped the original image (I had it on my computer) using Adobe Photoshop to get it a little closer to a square shape. From there I could then resize it as close as possible to the 150 X 150 limit set by the all powerful Wizard of Azz. Lastly, I went to Save for Web as "thewebboy" suggested and adjusted the number of colors used in the image to get it with the 10kB limit. It's really not all to complicated, it just takes a little playing around with Photoshop. I leave the complex stuff to Dayon.

Ya know... holding down the <shift> key while drawing your crop box constrains it to a square... just a little tidbit for your cropping pleasure.
