Bars/Tailgating for Clash in Cleveland

Post by thewebboy »

Any suggestions for possible bars to hit up that are close to the stadium?

Whats going on with the BG crowd tailgating? Are we trying to get in one area? And what time is everyone looking at starting?

Good to hear from you Lucas. I know there was a discussion here for I'm not sure what the consensus was.

Tailgating will be in the West 3rd lot to the immediate west of the stadium.

ETA will probably be 12:00-1:00 for my group. Others mentioned times around 3:00ish I think.

Beer will be cold, food hot, come over and join the group :)

Post-game for our crew will be West 6th, but a word to unfamiliar out-of-towners: there's some places there where you won't get in with hats and general game-going wear on. However, a few blocks away, in Gateway, are places that will accomodate that stuff, i.e. Panini's, Lizard, Bone Yard, etc. etc.

West 6th is the hot spot, but it's definitely the "hip" spot, as well.

The Freaks will be arriving between 1-2. Wish we could go out afterwards but I don't think the Freaklings' fake ID's will be ready in time.
I will have my BG flag so look for it!

Just have Jake do his Falcon screech one time and that will distract the bouncers and you should be able to get in the joint

Anyone staying at a downtown hotel in Cleveland? If so, which one and what did you pay?

I made a reservation at the Embassy Suites for $119. But it looks like I am going to be cancelling it and just driving back home after the game.

WHY!? You'll be missing out on all the fun!

I got reservations at the Hampton for $129 (Embassy was booked). Of course after taxes, etc, that ended up being a little over $150, I think.

Ahhh...gotchya, sound financial decision. Hotels in downtown are always expensive, and this weekend they seem to be moreso with the airshow going on as well. We've got 4-5 guys going, so it will make it a little more reasonable in the end.

I would have had 5 in the room, but I don't think my kids would have been happy if I told them to fork over their share. :o

We looked at the Hampton as well. Although I thought they had some clause about "$20 for each adult after two". Granted, the hotel in Wisky probably had some clause about not sleeping six in a room, too...

We've also got at least 6 or so staying up there, so it will divide down pretty good. And considering we're only paying $10 for tickets (Row 16 of the Dawg Pound, I'm told), the budget gets a little leeway for hotel space. I think I'll call the Hampton as well.

Plan right now is to hit the lot by 1pm at the latest.

We ended up booking at the Crowne Plaza downtown. The air show really tightened things up a bit, but we still got a decent rate. (about $116 before tax, etc.)
