I see... so, calling people Ignorant is conducive to their further participation. Gotcha.MatelaAntwerp wrote:When did anyone tell you to leave?
You are ignorant. And you are welcome.
Those two are not mutually exclusive.

I don't think he's ignorant. I think he's stating a view that has swallowed the college football fan's perception.
There are some of us that do care about academics a great deal, and take as much pride in our players' test scores and character as we do in their performance on the field. We are in the minority.

Not sure it's the prevailing view today or not, as I see a bunch of people on a bunch of message boards arguing academics as it relates to their football team. I just think if you really press most these folks, they don't really give a rats ass. I say it directly, I don't give a rats ass. Just score me some friggin points.

Everyone is in one way or another a (I'm a potty mouth so Flipper deleted my obscenity)too, but its not typically regarded as a compliment now is it?
Anyway, I'll catch you guys later.. it's 5:00 - quittin time![/i]

That does not mean we are trying to make you feel welcome.
You are in no danger of being kicked out and we welcome your opinion so we can quickly tear holes through it. That is the difference between Buckeyeplanet and this place. We have a genuine understanding of things so that when points contrary to our view are presented, and we disagree with them, we have discussions even arguments. And explain why we feel the way we do.
By the way I went back to Buckeye planet after my 3 day banning. It appears while I was gone I was banned for life? That seems odd that someone like yourself would talk about not being welcome somewhere.

Sorry, don't have to censor myself over on BP.. I'll be more careful here.
TedGinnTD... I'm glad you seem to think you have a point re: BP and here. I'm not going to disrespect Grant by responding in kind. I don't care if you don't like BuckeyePlanet. It's not for everyone, and it's clearly not for you. I dont' hang here much, but from what I've seen on this and other threads, the folks here have really kinda had enough of your obsession about BP anyway.
By the way, Mr. Facile, I didn't say everyone is a fornicator, I said "F*cker" which is different. Furthermore, I also added, "In one way or another" which, with that caveat (the same caveat you used when suggesting everyone is ignorant) the remark is true.
Regardless, I made my post quickly as I was up against 5:00 and probably could have come up with something better. In any case, I've been around the internet far too long to get my shorts in a bunch about some dude calling me ignorant and commenting on my "facile" mind (I assume you meant this word in the "Readily manifested, together with an aura of insincerity and lack of depth" way, rather than the "Working, acting, or speaking with effortless ease and fluency" way. But, maybe not.)
Til next time.

And, yet, wonder of wonders, Division III persists.Buckeyeskickbuttocks wrote: If it were not for the popularity of Football - at Ohio State it literally pays for EVERY OTHER sport at OSU (which, aside from Basketball, ALL lose money) - there wouldn't be such a thing as "athletic competition" at the collegiate level.
I look forward to Oct. 7, when our student athletes introduce themselves to your athletes.

How many schollies does Div III offer? Oh, yeah, that's right..... They don't offer any athletic schollies. How's the D-III sychronized swimming competion? What? There is none? Wonder of wonders indeed.Schadenfreude wrote:And, yet, wonder of wonders, Division III persists.Buckeyeskickbuttocks wrote: If it were not for the popularity of Football - at Ohio State it literally pays for EVERY OTHER sport at OSU (which, aside from Basketball, ALL lose money) - there wouldn't be such a thing as "athletic competition" at the collegiate level.

As October 7 goes, you'll probably recall that Ohio State and Bowling Green have played before... and recently. I'd say the "introduction" is nothing more than a formality.
Edit - I see I read and responded too quick.. You said Student Athletes, I was thinking you were talking about your fans.. my bad.
Anyway, yeah... sounds quite "romantic" your student athletes. Anyway... having a look at Ohio State's players reveals:
56 current players had grade-point averages of 3.0 or higher during fall quarter (2005), and the overall team GPA was 2.81 (as of the most recent release of NCAA APR Rates that I could find) 85 Schollies... better than half are 3.0 or higher...
Anything else you want to add about OSU's thugs?

That's great about their GPAs. But IIRC, guys like Katzenmoyer and the like were taking classes like golf and introduction to dance as a means to obtain such lofty grades. I am not saying that all the athletes do that, but just pointing out that it does happen.

Katzenmoyer left the program some 8 years ago. So did John Cooper and all of the former coaching staff which "allowed" such a thing to happen. Furthermore, Katzenmoyer wasn't taking classes not offered to the general population. They weren't "football classes" and you're kidding yourself if you don't think BG has players taking some "easy" college courses... ANyway, how soon you forget Molecular Biologist Craig Krenzel.Warthog wrote:That's great about their GPAs. More on Ohio State's "Thugs" as against BGSU's "Student Athletes...." quite comical, considering our respective stances on the issue:
You can look the following data up yourself here: http://www2.ncaa.org/portal/academics_a ... _data.html
Ohio State's multi year APR for football is 925, placing them in the 40 - 50th percentile in the sport (across the nation)The average for "Public" insitutitution is 920 and 929 for all instutitions (Public and Private)
BGSU's multi year APR for football is 920, placing them in the 30 - 40th percentile in the sport (across the nation) The avergae for "Public" universities is 920 and 929 for all institutions (Public and Private)
So.. now.. what was that you were saying about your "Student Athletes" and our "Athletes?" I take pleasure in the misfortune of others (Schadenfreude)?
For the record, my position in all this hasn't changed. I don't really care how a player is performnig in the classroom, as I've discussed above. I surely don't want to see them fail, or be ineligible or any of that, but, once again, I don't sit around rooting for test scores. Seems to me, some of you do... and, as it turns out... you have some catching up to do.

How is this question at all germane to the topic at hand?Falcon30 wrote:What kind of cars do your athletes drive?
I have no idea what cars they drive. I suspect some have very nice cars acquired under "suspicious" circumstances, and I suspect some have some real junkers... much like any other institution... I think you'd be wise to remember that the NCAA was here going over each and every OSU activity with a fine toothed comb only a year ago and found only 1 thing "wrong" (with football) and that was something OSU self reported - Troy getting 500 from a booster.
