This is the dumbest argument I've heard. He can be in West Virginia in about 30 seconds. Maybe they should play their games there.cbjhack wrote:As the coach from Ironton mentioned in the article, he can be in North Carolina in the same time that it takes him to drive to Canton (260 miles).
Where to play the high school finals?

No doubt. If my team is playing in a title game, I don't care how far I have to drive. I do see the point about rotating the sites. Seems to be a fair alternative.jacojdm wrote:This is the dumbest argument I've heard. He can be in West Virginia in about 30 seconds. When you live in Ironton, you aren't close to anyone else in OhioFalconfreak90 wrote:No doubt. If my team is playing in a title game, I don't care how far I have to drive. I'm certain the head coach at Iron Mountain, Michigan would gladly trade his travel situation with Ironton, Ohio.
Iron Mountain is a good program -- won the 2000 state title in Division 7, and won a title back in 1993.
But getting to the title game in Detroit (formerly the Silverdome, now Ford Field) is a helacious drive -- more than 9 hours.

Crew Stadium is alright for football... except for the fact that you have the track affect like Buffalo without the Track... you are forever and a day away... other then that... the 22k in seating is alright... don't let the 30K capacity full you... thats with 8k in standing room...
I'll Take Paul Brown Stadium, Ford Field, Cleveland Stadium, or the Hoosier Dome or Hoosier Dome II first before I take Canton...
oh... and if you want nice High School Stadiums.... pull up any Texas School District... they make most MAC stadiums look like HS football facilities.

Iron Mountain is the home of Steve Mariucci and Tom Izzo, IIRC.Schadenfreude wrote:I'm certain the head coach at Iron Mountain, Michigan would gladly trade his travel situation with Ironton, Ohio.

They are also the only big-ish town within miles. I bet their regular schedule is a bear to travel, too.
