I said inferior players, but its actual a combination of all of those things and even other factors like injuries and preparation.
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

How about this one: Not as many high quality players. I wouldn't say that the MAC has inferior players, just simply not as many all star type players. And there is a size difference. Every year, we see the bigger schools just wear down our players by throwing gigantic offensive linemen and tight ends against our scrappy d'line and lb's, but they just get worn down. There's a larger gap between our starters and our reserves. Most Big 10 schools have really good back ups in addition to their starters. We're not that lucky!

Are you asking why our band played and marched so well? Well, it has been my experience that the Wisconsin band does some really high chair steps and that's the highlight of their show. Maybe Wisconsin should spend some more money on their band to try to bribe more people to actually play an instrument correctly rather than belt out the loudest possible note, no matter how out of tune it is. One more point: what in God's name is wrong with Wisconsin's percussion section? Do they need prozac? They were just banging away the whole game, not even doing cadences or anything. It was a lot like jr.high band!BuckyFan wrote:How do you explain to disparity in Marching Bands?

In pregame - during halftime, I was visually bored, especially after about 10 seconds of that herky-jerky seisure-step. The poor percussionists looked like they had loaded diapers.Falcon30 wrote:I went in excited to see your band. I left totally disappointed. I was very, very disappointed.

Exactly. The MAC gets plenty of players that can play in any BCS league...just not as many as the BCS gets. The BCS always has an advantage with depth but with the 85 schollie limit, that is starting to close.cbjhack wrote:One word - DEPTH!
Look at the scores from this weekend...
UW 35, BG 14
OSU 35, NIU 12
NW 21, MU 3
Penn State 34, Akron 16
Iowa State 45, UT 43
Indiana 39, WMU 20
BC 31, CMU 24
Minny 44, KSU 0.
With the exception of the Kent game, most of these scores are respectable. There aren't a bunch of 56-0 or 49-3 scores.
It would have been great to see some MAC wins over the BCS boys this weekend but it didn't happen. That BCS needs to go...it is slowly trying to kill the non BCS conferences.
