I just had to post this...
Just glancing over at the Wisky forums to see what they had to say about the game, I came across this...
"The UW band rocks! I was somewhat suprised the BGSU junior varsity band did not lay down their instruments and walk off the field following the UW performance."
We didn't walk off the field because first of all, we would've marched off anyway, and secondly, we just had to show them how it's truly done. No wall of sound, just pure Falcon Marching Band music. We are known for our symphonic sound, and I'm sure that the majority of people, BG fans or not, would much rather be able to tell what they are listening then having their ears bleed!! That is, unless they are drunk, which I'm sure a good portion of the fans were.

I forgot to mention that. I was stunned. They just went up the stands like, "well, halftime is over because the real band already played."

Completely disrespectful move - especially knowing that they didn't have far to walk back to their stands.

About their drum major, I could toss my mace higher than he could toss his baton.

I wouldn't put too much stock into what that individual posted. He probably believes popcorn can truly be "gourmet."

P.P.W.W. band left me wanting. BGSU fulfilled my senses aurally as well as visually.

Wow.... are you serious? Okay..... so from what I'm reading:

Volume over tone: Check.
Inability to memorize music: Check.
Arrogance: Check.
Complaining: Check.
Classlessness: Triple-check.

Hmm, sounds like a winning combination. This is the first time I have no respect for the opposing band..... and I wasn't even there!

Man, I love the FMB.

The leaving at half-time wasn't even the worst thing they did, they played their fight song during our pregame!

Although it was neat that both bands ended on the same beat, that was low class.

a.) remember that the director makes that call, not the band members
b.) you would have annihilated their drum major.
c.) we had more sousphones

I know there isn't always a correlation, but I'm surprised at the poor sound of the UW-M band considering the uniersity's extremely high quality school of music.
I wonder if the band has a staff orthopod. I'm sure many folks need hip replacements after "marching" in the clip cloppy style.

As a point of interest, Wisconsin's band that marched yesterday was without freshmen. Only veterans made the trip.

I actually missed that. I was so annoyed by their sound that I must have tuned it out.

I did like how the FMB outplayed them in the stands. Very smooth.

From what I was told, the reason why they played their fight song is because their team came out on the field just as we were finishing our tunnel drill. Our team was kind enough to wait for us to get finished with our drill before they came storming out onto the field, and that showed a lot of class and respect on their part. I also noticed that during halftime, several people in BG uniforms stayed out and watched us perform. Anyone know who they were?

Point of clarification, they had 17 tuba players, we have 18. Even though one of ours is around 5 ft tall, I'm sure that she can easily beat out their entire section in just about everything except volume. 8) Either way, we still kicked their ass in everything (except crappiness).

Trash-talking makes you feel better... its a proven fact.

I'll be different. I wasn't at the game, the Hall of Fame, or really anywhere near the state of Ohio, but I was still impressed when I saw their band in Madison last year. They're different, but they're very good at what they do. I don't enjoy a lot of things that OSU's band does, but they're amazing at the things that they do. Enjoy diversity. Variety is the spice of life.

Well then, I'll turn it around. When it comes to blatting and stomping while marching, the Wisconsin band is second to none.

Well played!! =D>

I also missed the fact that the Wisconsin band left the field during the FMB performance. I wasn't that impressed with them, and was waiting for our band to come out and REALLY impress...guess I didn't notice! I think all of the FMB, including the staff, should email the head of the music department at Wisconsin and tell them how rude and classless that was.

BG BAND: YOU ROCK!!!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."
~~USCHO Poster
"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Emailing them and telling them how bad they are might sink us to their level. However I really wish someone could teach them some proper edicate on performance and respect.
