....and so is Brian St. Pierre.
"St. Pierre, a fifth-round draft choice in 2003 who spent two seasons with the Steelers, will join rookie quarterback Omar Jacobs on the practice squad in an attempt to determine who will be signed to the 53-man roster to back up Charlie Batch for Thursday night's season opener against the Miami Dolphins.
St. Pierre is eligible for the practice squad because he has not appeared in enough NFL games to qualify as something more than a first-year player.
Roethlisberger had emergency laparoscopic surgery yesterday morning and is expected to miss the first two games of the regular season.
To make room for St. Pierre on the practice squad, the Steelers released John Kuhn of Shippensburg."
At least they didn't release Omar to make room for him. Hopefully he can win out the backup roll. Full article can be found here:

If Omar was out of eligibility at BG, it would be one thing for him to be on the practice squad, but since he has one more year, wouldn't it have been better for him to stick around and play at BG this year?
I think the outcome might have been a little different on Saturday night had he played.
There are those that will say that being on a practice squad or making money is better than being at BG, but I don't see how sitting and not playing is better.
Call me a fool, but sometimes playing all four years isn't necessarily a bad thing.

A little over a third, or 11 out of the 32, of the NFL teams are currently carrying only 2 QBs on their 53 man roster.
Omar has a shot at being activated this week to be the backup. Cowher sounds like he'll decide between St. Claire and Omar after watching practice this week.
Stay tuned.

i think any Qb who is doing well should stay, more time develop and etc...but Omars logic and it was with out fault he was a top prospect. i think GB hit it right when he said at one point Omars mind was made at the start of the season.
After his ijury he should have stayed for his SR year. But hell that is all water under the bridge now, his on an Nfl Team, hell most likely dress this thursday and if batch chokes i would not past Bill to toss him in to the mix late.
