Well, the first preseason magazine is already on the newsstands, and that means basketball season isn’t too far away. I just picked up a copy of Lindy's. They have BG picked 6th in the MAC East. For what it's worth, that is also with Floyd, Robinson and Phillips, and none of those guys are even on the team anymore. I'm sure the magazine went to print after Floyd's departure. Also, there is no mention of guys like Sullivan or Miller as our key reserves, so I'm not putting much weight into this prediction over what I would even with them listed. Call me crazy, but I don't think BG will be last in the MAC East.
Samarco was named First Team All-MAC and was listed as the MAC's best shooter.
In a side note, the BG women's team was ranked #21 in Lindy's preseason Top-25. The subtitle below BG's named said the "Terrors of the MAC are Back." I like the sound of that.
Anyway, here's a breakdown of the MAC Predicted Standings and All-Conference Teams for the men:

that sounds about right...considering what we're bringing back and what we've gained I dont think much will change...i do expect to win maybe 3 or 4 more games but i think those will be out of conference games...the east will once again be the side to beat when conference season starts...considering we have no PG at all this season will we once again lead the nation in turnovers and fouls

I would prefer that he just stick to his axe. Isn't he too old to be playing PG anyway?Flipper wrote:Bobby "Blue" Bland is a PG...

I do not understand why any of you think we will be better this year as we lost the three players from last years team that had positive assists to turnover ratios (Moon, Floyd, and Wright). This tells me that we will turnover plagued and like always foul prone. Without the three above players I do not know who you guys expect to run point guard for us that will make any kind of impact.

Out of the three guys you named which PG actually made a positive impact? None of these guys were leaders or had the ability to run point for a division I basketball team.IKeepItReal wrote:I do not understand why any of you think we will be better this year as we lost the three players from last years team that had positive assists to turnover ratios (Moon, Floyd, and Wright). My feelings on the three guys we lost were - Wright: I liked his play. He was inconsistent, but talented. I thought this could have been the year he put it all together. Maybe he will, just not at BG. Floyd: He seemed to be either hot or cold. And it seemed it was usually cold. He played hard, he just didn't seem to play smart enough, or fast enough. On top of that, his biggest bad decision occurred off the court and that hurt the most. Robinson: He just didn't seem like a D-I player to me at all. He played with energy and could stick with guys with his speed which seemed to be more of a product of his size, but he couldn't shoot a lick, not even free throws, and it was 4-on-5 on offense with him out there. If we could have combined the three together, I think we'd have a heckuva player. But like so many players in recent years, they are gone and I'm tired about talking about the LONG list of those type of players.IKeepItReal wrote:I do not understand why any of you think we will be better this year as we lost the three players from last years team that had positive assists to turnover ratios (Moon, Floyd, and Wright). I'm actually banking on the guys who are here, who went through last year's terrible season. I'm looking for the returning players to finally turn this thing around at BG. I think they'll respond by improving their play after what they experienced, learned and grew through from last season. I think our schedule is a perfect fit for this team. It's set up to challenge an overall young team, it presents lost of opportunities to get some much needed wins, and that's exactly what this team needs to do – it neess to learn how, what it takes, and how it feels to win. Marschall and Clements showed flashes of things to come last year and I expect improvement in year two. I'm hoping Moten comes around and shows some of what made him a highly-touted recruit, and that Radivojevic can put the ball in the basket like we've heard he can do so well. I'm really excited to see what guys like Sullivan and Wilson can do (especially Sullivan). On top of that, I like what I've heard about our newcomers Sims, Larson, Polk, Hamblet & Bland. I actually think Samarco will have about the same kind of year in terms of numbers, but that he'll have more help around him. And Lefeld, I can only hope his feet can hold up because he plays hard and is limited to what he can do because them. We'll soon find out.
GO BG!!!
