It is an 8 man practice squad now and a 53 man roster.
and it clearly says that it was increased by 3 in 04

Fact remains some one, a qb from pits PS will suit up in the game against miami, someone will be moved to teh PS from the roster, and that someone will be again moved off the roster to accomodate Ben when he returns...all this will start before 4pm on wed when pit turns in thier roster.

The coaching staff was going to make a decision between Omar and BSP after practice yesterday. Winner backs up Chuckie the emu and loser gets PS for a week. Nothing has leaked as of yet.

OT - But someone on MACBBS posted a link to a FL paper. Apparently Omar's car got stolen from his moms house.

St. Pierre is apparently getting most of the snaps in practice...

A '92 Caprice-you guys weren't paying him enough. He should have gone to OSU! :-D I'm assuming he's got a whip of slightly higher quality these days.

There is now some rumor making it way around that both jacobs and St.Pier are on the 53 for this weeks game as a Just in case measure.
The announcement should be public in 30 min or so, on which or if both are in the game.

I think there is a loophole that a team can carry a 3rd QB active for gameday as a "free" spot. Active roster is different from 53-man roster so if they both make the 53, both will likely dress. I kind of doubt they'll do that but who knows.

you can keep a 3rd emergency QB active and dressing for a game and it counts as basically the 46th player able to play in a game.

PITTSBURGH — The Steelers signed quarterback Brian St. Pierre from their practice squad to the active roster, making him the backup quarterback for Thursday night's season opener against the Miami Dolphins.

St. Pierre (6-3, 230) was signed to the Steelers practice squad on Sept. 4, 2006, after spending the past year with the Baltimore Ravens. He was originally drafted by the Steelers in the fifth round (163rd overall) in the 2003 NFL Draft and then spent time on both the active roster and the practice squad for Pittsburgh. After being waived on Sept. 3, 2005, St. Pierre was signed to the Baltimore Ravens' practice squad on Sept. 22, 2005, and signed to the active roster on Dec. 8.

St. Pierre, who was waived by the Ravens on Sept. 2, 2006, has played in one career game, which was the Steelers' season finale against the Buffalo Bills on Jan. 2, 2005.

To make room for St. Pierre, the Steelers released five-year veteran cornerback Chidi Iwuoma. Iwuoma originally signed with the team as a free agent in 2002. In his four years with the Steelers, he recorded 69 special teams tackles, including a career-high (tied) 19 last year.

Additionally, the Steelers re-signed fullback John Kuhn to the practice squad. Kuhn (6-0, 255) spent part of the 2005 season on the team's practice squad and was signed to this year's practice squad on Sunday, Sept. 3, before being released the following day.

This does not bode well for Omar. Roethlisburger comes back healthy, St Pierre goes back to the PS....bingo bongo done.
