Comments from Brandon - looks like Turner is our QB

Post by windycityfalcon »

Found some quotes from the presser on bgsufalcons.com..
the following jumped out..

(On Anthony Turner starting against Buffalo)
"We had limited passes last week and we are going to open the field up this week. (We will look for) more down-the-field throws with Anthony and let him cut loose a little bit, and I think that will help the running game."

(Will Freddie Barnes start against Buffalo?) "Potentially. We kind of have a new position for him, called the P. It's a a personnel group that we have had in the past. We may run some of that, or he can play running back, or be put in the slot and be a receiver. It's like what we evolved into with P.J. Pope a few years ago. He was a great running back for us but it turned out that he was a great receiver too. And, we were able to put him into the slot and he could work from there. Freddie is that type of kid, but the whole thing is that he can't get lost. He still has to play quarterback, because he still is our backup quarterback,. That creates kind of a dilemma as far as reps in practice."

He's been pretty consistent. He said it right after the game in Cleveland in the post game. Said AT earned it in the Spring and kept the job in the Fall.

3 things that I like. 1. Turner gets the nod at QB. 2. GB is looking to really open up the offense and throw the ball down the field. 3. He's going to use Barnes like he did Pope, as mostly a RB but in the slot as a WR too. I dont know how else to put it other than that is exactly what I wanted to happen from the things that I watched and I am glad to see has chosen that route!
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

Why should he? The kid can flat out run as we saw against Wisconsin. In time I think he could be an effective passer as well. If we can use him at different positions that makes him more of a threat than if he were just playing one. This is a great thing, and I think we will exploit it throughout the season and catch some other teams, and possibly Bleading Orange, with their pants down!

May I never merit such dishonor as to witness such an event.

I drool at the thought of Barnes and Turner on the field at the same time. Add Macon, Ruiz, O'Drobinak, Charles and a healthy Partridge??? Oh the possibilities...Barnes impressed me BiG time.
