I figured I'd post this in Football since most of the activity is there currently.

If you haven't been getting your Falcon Club e-mails, here's the text of the final 2003 e-mail, with information on getting the 2004 edition.

Fall Sports Season Starting Soon

Just a friendly reminder, that if you have not renewed your Falcon Club membership, there is still time, but you will be needing your membership card for entry to the Falcon Club Pavilion at football games. If you have misplaced your pledge form you can download one by logging onto: http://bgsufalcons.collegesports.com/bo ... index.html or you can call the office at 419-372-7100. If you have already renewed for this year, THANK YOU!!

This will be the last Falcon Land Update for the 2003 membership year. The first update of the new year will be Monday, August 16. If you have renewed your membership and put your email address(es) on your pledge card, you will receive an Update. If you did not put down your email or you can't remember if you did, reply to this message and you will be added to the list.

See you at some games.

I've always wanted to join, but never really had the cash. Essentially I make about three football home matches a year, and one or two hockey/basketball dates per year. If I were to get my membership in, say in the next week or two, is there any benefit that I'd receive for this football season? I noticed at the orange level (all I could really afford) it makes mention of hockey and basketball, but nothing about football. Could someone explain what I'd get out of it other than the falcon club tent. Do they even have free beers there?

...Sorry, I've only been out of school for four years now and the money is tight.

For football, you get admission to the Falcon Club Tent in the stadium which has food and drink available for purchase.

I just didn't want to come off as sounding cheap.

At this point the thing I'm most interested in is getting first crack at the Wisconsin tickets next season. Will joining the falcon club enable that? Do the falcon club offer away tickets for most games? I was considering going to either the N Ill. game this season or the Temple match and want to be sitting in the visitors section amongst other BG fans. Does being a falcon club member make that easier?

Beer is FREE until the second half kick off, but food cost a little money in the Falcon Club tent.

I am not sure whether Falcon Club members get the first crack at road tickets or not, but you should be able to score a ticket for the Wisconsin game in the BG section without much trouble even if you don't have the cash to become a member. I think BG has a surprisingly large group of fans at every road game, but I've never had trouble getting a good seat in the BG section. Order NIU tickets -- that is going to the be the game of the year and Chicago is only an hour away.

Umm it's just under an hour and a half to Ft. Wayne, IN... How does that math work out?

I meant that Chicago was only an hour's drive away from Dekalb. I am thinking that my rundown Grand Am can make it to Dekalb in 6 hours or so.

According to mapquest its 93 miles away. So you're averaging about 61 mph on that trip. That's pretty quick considering all the crap you drive through to get to Ft. Wayne from BG, but doable.

Chicago, OTOH, is 252 miles away from BG. I find it very hard to believe you can get there in an hour, or even 2 hours. 3 hours is pushing it at an average speed of 84 mph. Sure, that sounds doable, but if you stop for gas or food or anything, even typical traffic slowdowns, you're looking closer to three & a half or four hours for Chicago.

Welcome to the board. Believe me you don't sound cheap about giving to the Falcon Club. I've been outta school since 1990 and I still can only afford so much. House payment, groceries, kids, utilities, taxes and so forth kinda drain our $$$ supply

I joined the FC a few years ago and wish I had more to give. But buying season tix and most away game tix also costs money. Do you play the 50/50 when at games? You contribute there! I play $10 at every home game...even won once at a BB game.

Give what you can afford. Every dollar helps...and if ya wanna do something fun, volunteer to sell 50/50 at some games. It really is fun and you're donating your time. Plus, ya get in the games free!

I sell for BB and hockey games but that tailgate action in the lot is too much. Sorry, no can do for football!

BG Tix office sells tix to all away games...always in BG sections. Purdue did us up well last yr!
