Brandon's letter to BGSU in BGNews

Post by UK Peregrine »

BGSU Faculty, Students, Staff and the BG Community,
On behalf of everyone within the BGSU football family, I would like to express our thanks for the outstanding support we received at the "Clash in Cleveland" last week. There was a great atmosphere, particularly in the "Dawg Pound" filled with all of our students. Our players were excited to see so many friendly faces who made the trip west on a holiday weekend. It was awesome to see the "terrible towels" going and to hear the roar on third and fourth downs. You were all as much involved in that fourth down goal-line stand as the defense itself. You really had the place rocking!

We are proud of the fact that we have posted the best record in the MAC over the last five years and one reason for that has been the zealousness that our fans have shown at home in Doyt Perry Stadium. The "Doyt" is a special place to be in the fall, and I hope you will continue to follow our team as we look to contend for a MAC East title in November.

The MAC championship quest starts this Saturday at 3 p.m. against Buffalo. The players and coaches know we can count on you to create the home field advantage that all programs crave. We feel very fortunate to have great fans like you. ROCK THE DOYT!

Gregg Brandon
Head Football Coach

I know I made the trip WEST, but boy did it take a long time to get there.

Yeah, the trip via Lexington to Cleveland was no walk in the park either, right PGY? But it was well worth it to see the Falcons in CBS. Now though, I'm really looking forward to see the Sebo up close and in person this weekend.

It's a special nod to Lord Byron, '87, and a few friends of his in Beachwood. :)

Sounds like coach (or someone in the athletic communications office) needs to take an Ohio Geography class. But, I suppose some people did make the trip West, I mean there are probably a lot of BG fans on the east side of Cleveland, maybe that is what he was referring to.

I travelled West. I see nothing wrong with the letter.

I travelled East, and I am offended that I was not taken into consideration in this letter!

Seriously, it sucks that our coach has to pimp the team in order to build any sort of excitement/following, but at the same time I'm glad we have a coach who is willing to do that. I know that Urban did many of the same things in his time here, but I don't recall Blackney doing any of that pimpage when he was the coach.

It's a shame that it is required, but kudos to Brandon for willingly adding this to his job description. Hopefully it works. Buffalo is not a good matchup, but it is still the first chance to tailgate at the Doyt this year!

Maybe the players were only excited about those fans who came from the East. They were not excited about those fans from the West coming East.

He was assuring all of us that the world is, in fact, still round.

I love it when coach Brandon writes letters like this to help keep the morale of the players, fans, and students up. It shows he really does care about the fans and wants to put on a good show for us all!
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

Great point, '87. Brandon is a classy dude...he may not be perfect but I love the fact he's driving this ship right now.

As I've said many times. Gregg Brandon is not a perfect coach, but he is one heckuva nice guy.
