I'm optimistic because I believe we have found our diamond in the rough with Freddie, a cog to the offense that not any other MAC team may end up having. Alos, being at the game Saturday, I saw a lot more emotion, pride and leadership being shown by some of our young players. This in turn will only fuel the vets to play better, and so on.
I think it is very hard to compare MAC teams after only one week in the season. For all we know, Minnesota will run the table in the Big 10 and end up being a Top 10 team, you just never know. I'd say though after watching almost every team in the MAC East play Thursday and Saturday, BG came away looking the best just based on the improvements on defense made against Wisky compared to last year's game. You can't teach or coach speed, and it looks like our D is chock full of it this season.
I'm excited to see how things go on Saturday. I don't think it'll be a blowout, I doubt any games this year will be like that, but it'll be a game where Coach Brandon manages the clock, mixes runs and passes well and keeps Buffalo off-balance. I hope to see a lot of that during the rest of the games this season.
GO FALCONS!
optimistic? you bet.
