Hey guys,
This is admin from ubfan.com.

Interesting thread.

Let me ask you couple rhetorical questions.
1) If the fans of Buffalo don't believe in the team, then who will?
2) A UB fan picking UB over BGSU doesn't make them ignorant. We are well aware that you are 21 point favorites. We are well aware that BGSU is much better than us. We are well aware that many many publications have us ranked second to last.
3) Why do people make predictions? Let's face it, we do it to impress people. What satisfaction does a fan get in predicting a loss? Absolutely zero. The only satisfaction they get is to look like a wise guy while real fans hang on to hope.
4) Isn't it more fun picking the underdog? Hey we're the underdogs here, so why not pick us. We've got some exciting new players as you will see on Saturday.

Yes, I am one of the fans who believe that we can come out of BGSU with a win. I hope the team believes the same, because until the clock strikes zero, we have shot.

Good luck this week. I have always respected and rooted for BGSU.

Thanks for that post and welcome to the board!

I think alot of us made that same argument last year when some of our own even were wondering how anyone could pick a BG win over Wisconsin, or an undefeated season. While I admit I laughed a little reading some of the UB fan predictions, you're dead on. To this date, no one has received a medal, a cookie, or even a pat on the back for having the closest prediction, we do them just for fun. And what fun is there in picking your own team to lose? (Even if you ARE Buffalo! ) You've hit the nail on the head. While UB has been a doormat, it only takes one year (does anyone here remember 2001? Or Akron's year last year?) to get started.

Although I think you have to admit, a 9-3 OT win over Temple leaves ALOT to be desired.

Good luck to the Bulls... will we see ya at the Doyt on Saturday?

What struck me as funny was all the misinformation floating around over there. Nothing wrong with predicting an upset, but when 2/3 of the posters are picking the upset, visions of kool-aid start dancing in my head.

If I were the worst team in the MAC over the last 5 years, I'd be happy to lose by 14 @ the best team in the MAC over the last 5 years.

You really can't fault them though. How often does UB get to play a team with a worse record then them? I like their spirits. The fact that they still have so many people behind them after winning just a handful of games over the past five seasons impresses me.

The reality is #3 and picking buf doesnt impress anyone..it makes them laugh...like me picking Bg over Ohio State in early Oct, after giving away the game to WI, which we still would have lost, but made more a game out of it.
Believing your team win is ok, just not realistic, they "you" could come out of BG improved in aspects of the game, but to think your competitve at this point is far fetched. Its going to be a long road, keep believing and lookin for postive signs of growth, just dont be overly confiedent in picking win that wont come. you can of course and spirit is to be comended...you must also be a Browns fan

Good luck this week. I have always respected and rooted for BGSU.

This is the first time since they became IA, no?
If the Bulls still have that 300lb tailback, a close game or even an upset isn't out of the question.

Thanks for coming over and posting!! This whole thread just drove me crazy because everyone whines when schmuckeye fans come on here and puff out their chests saying how much better they are, and how inferior we are, but we ended up sounding JUST LIKE THEM when Buffalo fans speak up for their team. :? Good luck this weekend to BOTH teams and may they both come out injury free!!

....that said....GO FALCONS!! BEAT BUFFALO!!! :-D
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

It's interesting to note that the majority of UB fans picking Buffalo to beat us have them ahead by no more than two point on average. There are a few hardcore Buffalo fans that have them winning by ten points or so. I feel that if they are to win it will be on a last minute touchdown or field goal. I wish Buffalo all the luck in the world...after this game!!

UB fan on board

We have a lot in common. I love Yuengling Beer, hockey, and football. I respect the fact that you guys are so confident, you've earned the right to be. I like the way you have turned your program around and I want the same for Buffalo. I also, like your over confidence. It works to our bennefit. I feel that UB is better than last year and your team is not at the same level it was last year. i.e. - Wisconson game!!! UB will move the ball and our defense will be challenged by your QB abilities to run & pass and I'm not talking about Barnes. I don't think BG will be fired up and momentum plays a big part in college football. I feel an upset in the making. Good Luck to you in the future. Your team brings respect to the MAC conference.

I think BG will be all kinds of fired up. First "real" home game, first conference game, a week to dwell on the Wisky loss and hear how awful they played from gurus like us... they'll be ready.

Thanks for the kind words, its good to see confidence that UB might be turning a corner. That can only help the MAC. (But would ya smack Kent State into shape as you drive through NE Ohio Saturday, please? :-D )

Seriously -- Buffalo is obviously moving in the right direction, but Kent can't do anything even when all the pundits crazily pick them to win the East.

I think it'll be a hard-fought, low scoring game that swings in BG's favor on a key turnover. We pull away in the fourth 24-7.

Also, BGfbfan - whoever you are on here, don't go over to other people's house, take a dump and expect them to flush the toilet.

Bad form.
RIght on both counts. I concede that beating Temple in OT is nothing to be proud of. We tend to pick our team to win, too. That's all.

Sooner or later, that program can get turned around, and this might well be the start of it.

Also, we didn't blow Buffalo out last year.

I expect BG to win today relatively easily. But I'd probably be thinking the same thing if I were in their shoes.

Buts its no excuse to get cockey. We haven't done anything yet. We still haven't proven we can stop the run and UB ran on us pretty silly last year if I remember correctly.

I bet quite a few BG people in here feel pretty foolish for their predictions
