It's usually a "wait and see" type deal. If you're coming and worried about tickets, don't worry. Otherwise, we could see anything from 12-20K. Traditionally the first home game brings in a pretty good crowd (23K vs. a I-AA team a couple years ago), but the past few years the team has gotten a lot more hype. So who knows?

It's supposed to rain -- I'd be extremely happy if we get over 15k.

Over 20,000 would be a nice crowd for this game. UB had sold 29,000 for their opener, but only about 18,000 actually attended. We need the numbers to stay above the 15,000 per game required by NCAA. It's tough for the MAC because the teams are so close to each other and the Big Ten must have a hugh impact in the mid states, but as usual "If you win they will come!!!" "Just win baby!!!" "Second place is the first loser!!!"

:x 30% to 40% chance of rain does not equal "supposed to rain". It may be cloudy, pleasant temps in the low 70's. Great weather for a game. :D

My dad ordered 3 tickets and asked what the attendance will be, and they told him somewhere around 16,000-19,000. The athletic dept. is worried about 2 things though from what my dad said, one being BG residents going to the BSAF instead of the game, and the possibility students may skip the game to get "prepped" so to speak for the OSU/Texas game. I think our students showing up is what makes or breaks the attendance tomorrow.

Some students can be so dumb. 5-6 hours of tailgating, followed by a good live football game is hte perfect "prep" for a big game like OSU-Texas :)

I was talking to someone in the athletic department on Wednesday night and asked about how ticket sales were going this week. While not giving a specific number, he said it was going ok. He pointed out two things about our attendance. One, our attendance is very opponent driven. He wasn't saying that as a knock on Buffalo in any way. Just pointing out that our fans only seem to show up based on the quality of the opponent. And two, it is a reality that we have to schedule our game times around Ohio State playing. So no matter what any one else thinks, it was the OSU-Texas game that caused the game to be moved from 6:00 to 3:00, not the BSAF. (My words, not his, but it was easy to interpret his meaning.)

Marco's Pizza in town is giving away 2 free tickets with the purchase of a large pizza. My brother and I ordered an X-Large pizza last night, picked it up, and got 2 free tickets to the game as well. It's a shame I can't go, but he's found somebody to use the extra ticket. Hey, the way I see it, we used a coupon, paid $10.50 for pizza, AND got 2 tickets to the game. Now, you can't beat that!

Very cool. I've often thought of using those free ticket-type deals to just hand them out on my own around town if they weren't going to be used. Not that I've ever been in that situation, and I usually just buy my ticket at the gate, but if ya have extras, why not give 'em to some dad and kid at Kroger or something?

But that's good that your brother found someone to use the ticket, hopefully others utilize this deal the same way. And just think, PGY, if you get like six pizzas, you can get all your kids in!!!

I've been corrected: It was just 2 free tickets with your pizza purchase. He was going to have me order pizza today and get 2 more tickets, but why would I do that if I don't have any use for them?

And it's a good deal for two tickets, even if you throw the worthless pizza away! So you get two tickets for a couple bucks cheaper than you'd normally pay, and you can put that money towards a real pizza! I might just have to do that :)

That take from your athletic dept. insider is a little troubling looking at our 10-15 year history and especially our recent history. I'd say our attendance is more based on weather and time of day.

My example would be we had a BCS "power" in Mizzou here a few years ago- granted they aren't blazing their way to a Jan. 1 game, but THE state school in MO. and a pretty big deal and we had a worthless crowd. Now, two seasons ago we played SEMO a IAA squad and we had a GREAT crowd for that game. Looking back at the Blackney era, the Toledo game from either 91 or 92 (whichever year we hosted) was the most full I, personally, have ever seen the stadium- Gameday included. Then in 94 the fat punter game which would have propelled us to a championship the crowd was weak.

Last year our home opener drew 19,462. With a shot at decent weather I dont see why we couldnt achieve that again, especially with the additon of SEBO!
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!
