WMU getting all over Toledo is not suprising. WMU does some nice things in Kalamazoo.
The score sure looked bad, but like your game we dominated many of the stats. We had over 300 yards in total offense and they had about 250.
They did not turn the ball over. We turned it over four times and had a botched snap on a field goal attempt that basically is five turnovers in my book. They returned an INT 94 yards for a TD when we were about to retake the lead early in the 3rd quarter.
We also recovered the 2nd half kickoff, but were called for offsides. When we rekicked, they returned it to our 38 yard line and scored the go ahead TD.
We made mistake after mistake and turned the ball over like it was a greased pig.
We can't play like that. That game reminded me of the Fresno State game last year where we kept turning the ball over. If we don't have turnovers, we are a better team than WMU and we would have won the game. Three times in the WMU redzone in the 2nd half and zero points. That hurts. And WMU had 17 of their 31 points directly off of turnovers.
Sounds like both BG and UT have much room for improvement in certain areas. I'll reserve judgement on the MAC until after the first month. It is obvious BG, UT, NIU and MU are no longer dominant like 2001-2004 or so....Akron has looked the best so far, IMO.
All this tells me one thing...it's wide open in 2006 meaning BG has as good a shot as anyone else.

FALCON FOOTBALL ROCKS!
There have been a lot of surprises and upsets early on in this football season. I think one think we are seeing is the improvement of 1-AA teams, although that could be down to more 1-A teams playing 1-AA, but I would still say the gap has closed. Here are some of the games that have really caught me off guard...
Rutgers 33 Illinois 0
Iowa 20 Syracuse 13 2OT
ND 41 PSU 17
Cal 42 Minn 17
Montana St 19 Col 10
Tenn 35 Cal 18
Richmond 13 Duke 0
KSU 24 Ill St 23
NH 34 Nwstrn 17
BG 48 UB 40 3OT
Ohio 35 NIU 23
FSU 24 Troy 17
Tenn 31 AF 30
WMU 31 UT 10
only 3 out of 14 are from the MAC... so its not just our conference! I said this awhile back and I'll say it again, last year's graduating class (including Jr's that left for the NFL) was very good and very underrated, and almost every team in the country is going to be down from last year!
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

The glass is at least half full ... I love the perspective, Freak!
I'm trying 87! I am still way pumped that FALCON FOOTBALL is back but cautious. I guess the orange glasses don't fit quite as well this year so far but dammit, we'll be in the hunt for the East!
