Project Falcon is complete!
Thanks to the generosity of the people on this board, I'm pleased to announce that Project Falcon has raised $1,500 for Karl and Noah to come to BG this fall for a game. Thanks to everyone who donated!
I just talked to Karl on the phone a few minutes ago and he was very thankful and excited.
If you'd like to take a look at the Project Falcon site, it's at http://www.malanga.net/projectfalcon
Thanks again to everyone who helped out in this great project. I, for one, am looking so forward to seeing Karl and Noah at the Doyt this fall!

Looks like EMU.... still not solid on that though. I'm sure Karl will check in soon.

I just KNEW the Falcon faithful would come through! It's such a great project!! Freak is right, Falcon fans are the BEST!!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

I am thrilled to be involved, and I hope we see an appearance on the boards soon by 87.

He's a hard man to leave speechless... but I think we did it this time.
He'll be around soon though.
And Maureen knows all about this, as do several other important people...

I am really sad I didn't get a chance to contribute (lack of money and a paypal account), but I am so impressed with everyone around here. You'd be hard pressed to find a more close-knit group of fans anywhere. I can't wait to see his response and, even though I don't know them personally, I'm so happy for Karl and Noah and I hope to maybe meet them both someday soon, because they seem like wonderful people and great Falcon fans. Congrats!

Chris- thanks for getting this all together. I can't wait to talk to Noah again. Or should I just say listen to Noah? HA And it is always great to see Karl in the Orange and Brown.
Once again, I am proud to be a Falcon Fan. No one EVER said it would be easy(see football posts on Saturday's game!) but we are always loyal!

Folks, you're reading the words of one humble Falcon.
Grant is right. I was speechless. As one of my former artists used to frequently say - "I didn't even know how to act." To be honest, I still don't quite know how to say thank you.
When Chris called, I was so stunned that I spent most of the conversation stammering. After I hung up the phone, a few folks actually stopped by my desk to see if everything was OK.
I printed out a few pages of the Project Falcon blog for Mrs. 87 to see and, needless to say, she was even more stunned than I. "Your school is amazing," she kept saying it over and over.
I handed the pages to Noah and, as he read them, he just flung his arms around me and said, "does this mean we're going, Dad?" I assured him we were. "This is unbelievable! Why did they go to all that trouble?"
Let me share a story that I've shared with Freak and Grant: Mrs. 87 and I were sitting up late one evening, discussing our recent financial situation as we were sorting through photos. These were the photos we had pulled out of various albums for a memory board for my father's funeral. We came across one of Noah & Catie not long after I returned home from China with Catie. Ruth looked at it for a moment and said "they're just growing up so fast." Then she looked at me and said, "we really need to figure out a way to get you and Noah to that game."
So Ruth & I will file Project Falcon under "A" for "Answer to Prayer." We are so deeply grateful.
Of course, not everyone will be happy about this turn of events. Someone now needs to contact Jeff Genyk and let him know The Streak will return to The Doyt on Oct. 14.
