One caveat...if you can go full screen, unless you spent a lot of $ on the monitor you may get some smearing. Less expensive LCD displays tend to not have an extremely high refresh rate which can cause that smearing affect with a lot of movement going on. I know this is the case for games, but I don't know if the same holds true with this type of broadcast.Bleeding Orange wrote:My biggest question is, can you get it to full screen, or is the player embedded in a web page? My 17" LCD would work pretty well if it can be made full screen, I would imagine.BGGrad01 wrote:I watched about a quarter and a half of last week's game on the mac-sports.com's broadcast. I was very impressed. Pretty good picture and not too many "kinks" that I noticed. Well worth the $8 to see the Falcons IMO.

Actually it does. LCD is a terrible technology for anything that has quick movement. In TVs they get away with the poor refresh rates because you sit so far back that it is less noticeable; I would still never buy an LCD TV. It is quite obvious if you're playing a fast paced computer game however. It would almost certainly hold true with something like this as well, if you were sitting at normal computer distance away.

It's embeded in a player. You can expand the player to full screen, but the game only covered about 70% of the screen. It was still plenty big enough for me, and I suspect that the quality would have gone down enough to be more annoying if it was expanded any further.hammb wrote:I haven't tried it, but that would depend on the resolutions that they're streaming. Even if you could expand it to full screen if they're streaming only smaller resolutions you wouldn't want to, because it would be so pixelated.Bleeding Orange wrote:My biggest question is, can you get it to full screen, or is the player embedded in a web page? I couldn't find any info on there about what resolution(s) they stream. J4H, you used it last week, didn't you? Was it in a good enough resolution to expand it out to full screen?
I was extremely pleased with the feed, and I was when I used it to watch the MAC tourney last year also. Having Josh Harris do the commentary was a nice bonus also

How animated was J5 on the commentary on the 4th down play where we ran the QB sweep and he got stuffed? He looked royally PISSED in the booth at the time.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:It's embeded in a player. You can expand the player to full screen, but the game only covered about 70% of the screen. FIU Sports web feed.....
Maybe a FIU fan can clear thing up here. bgsufalcons.com had a collum on the fiusports web feed thing and said it was 7.95. Some FIU fan here said it was free for the first year. Be nice to know if thats true or not. These web feeds can be touch and go alot of times. It depends or your connection , where your connected at (if using wifi) and such. Does anyone know what connection speed you have to be at for that feed to work seamlessly? The'res a site that tests your upload & download speeds to tell how fast your connection really is. I think its speakeasy.net or org .com.

I tried to view the sample video and received this message:
"Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the specified protocol is not supported. If you typed a URL in the Open URL dialog box, try using a different transport protocol (for example, "http:" or "rtsp:")."
Any thoughts on what I need to do to get this to work?

What version of WMP? I think I have 9 and it works fine for me. Also, what browser are you using? I ended up having to use IE.Warthog wrote:I tried to view the sample video and received this message:

Go to your program files folder, and open your windows media player folder. There should be a file called wmplayer. right click and choose properties and there should be a version tab.Warthog wrote:How do I tell which version? Make sure you're 9 or above and try the link from IE.
