That was certainly not a very impressive football game. Kansas could move the ball, but made so many dumb mistakes it cost them the game. Toledo really had trouble moving the ball, both on the ground and in the air. I did not think their running backs were very impressive, nor was Cochran or their receivers. If Kansas would have been a little smarter taking care of the ball and calling a better game offensively, they would have won the game going away.

Just got back from the Asia concert in Cleveland and was able to catch the end of the game. They said KU had FIVE TO's tonight and UT scored 22 points off of TO'S? UT won the game....that's all the matters. Judging by what people here are saying, UT may struggle somewhat this year. Time will tell. UT gives the MAC their 2nd win vs the BCS this year.

First off, I have to say that I am thrilled that Toledo got the MAC its second win over a BSC [sic] school. Honestly.
But, I must say - holy two absolutely hapless teams plaing football Batman!
That was one of the best absolutely terrible football games I have ever seen in my life. That was by far the worst coaching that I have ever seen from Toledo Tom, too. How do you not go for two when you score a touchdown to put you up 30-23? That is just totally indefensible, and that wasn't the only thing he screwed up on. Toledo was very, very, very lucky to win that game.
One thing my dad said on several occasions tonight really resonated with me: "God watches over Toledo." That sounds crazy, but from what I have seen of Toledo over the past few years, I'm half inclined to believe it at this point.
The other half of me says that God couldn't possibly care that much for such a group of thugs.
<-- joking, shut it morons.

Well, if that is the way they want to roll, getting blown out (not in this case, of course) by average BCS teams early in the season is no way to move up to a BCS conference as some of the morons up there believe they will simply because they have merged with a 3rd rate medical college. They need to learn to roll much more aggressively from the shotgun blast if they think they are going to accomplish this. They have made some strides this year, but it is going to take more than a close loss to Iowa State and a goofy win over Kansas to get the job done.mmisbg wrote:This is my thoughts exactly. But, a W is a W. Congrats Toledo.

Let's face it, one's ascension to a BCS conference really has little to do with the quality of the team. It comes down to stadium attendance. Off the top of my head, I don't know UT's average attendance rate, so I'm not implying one way or the other. I'm simply pointing out that if UT moves into the Big East (or wherever they think they are going to go) it will have little to do with the quality of their team.Bleeding Orange wrote:Well, if that is the way they want to roll, getting blown out (not in this case, of course) by average BCS teams early in the season is no way to move up to a BCS conference as some of the morons up there believe they will simply because they have merged with a 3rd rate medical college. A team can be mediocre and still make their way to the BCS. Concurrently, a team can be really good and never make it.

Matt -- you have to kick the XP to make it an 8 point game. Never in my life have I seen a coach go for two in that situation. You also have to try a field goal on 4th and goal from the 26 in OT. That was retarded.
Did anyone realize that Toledo didn't have a first down the entire second half? They were outgained about 10-1 in the second half, and still forced OT because Kansas reeks something awful. I wish Toledo was this bad when we play them. Can we move our game with them to the front end of all the upcoming schedules?
I would pay good money to see Turkey Tom, Mangino the Grinder, and Kobayashi compete in an eating contest.....with those foam swords. Was anybody else really creeped out by the imagery of Amstutz running at somebody screaming with a sword? I don't think I'll sleep for a week.

Yep...that was some crappy football right there. If Kansas had a QB with a functioning brain and/or db's that could hang onto int's, that one would have been a easy win for the Jayhawks.
The lead announcer on the deuce said "this is not one of those vintage Toledo teams we've seen over the last seven years" . I would have to agree with that statement.
