OSU-Cinci Game......

Post by Falconboy »

Cinci appeard to have held OSU to a FG on the 1st O possesion and then moved the ball quite well on OSU to score a TD midway through the 1st qtr. Cinci appears to be running some form of the spread as well and they have fairly quick and mobile qb.

Cincy's only rushing yards have been the QB escaping from the pocket for some big gains. OSU's DL is struggling to really pressure him much right now, so he's also been able to find some WRs downfield. OSU's offense has been trying to go downfield too much rather than actually pound it out and build a drive.

OSU will win this game, eventually.

I'm very disappointed I didn't log in early enough to my sportsbook to bet the noon games this morning. This is easy money on Cincy getting 28.5. This is a letdown game for OSU, and no way they cover that spread.

I think Bowling Green might match up pretty well against Ohio State. They haven't been outstanding against the run.

I think we may be able to move the ball on them, their defense is not quite as shutdown as it was last year. However, we'll have to play mistake free, because they have some playmakers, especially the Little Animal.

Problem is, I think they will be able to put up 40-50 points on our defense if they show up to play.

OSU came out flat like I figured they might, but they've since snapped out of it and put this game away.
We'll have to come out early and capitalize on every chance we get, unlike Cincinnati who threw away a couple of chances early in the game.
And our defense will have to play the best they ever have.

Well if Cinncinnatti did this well, they must have a bunch of non-qualifiers on their team!

I havent checked the exact stats for the game but didnt Cincy have like -4 yards rushing as a team?

I heard that somewhere. maybe it was -4 for the running backs but with all the sacks it wouldnt suprise me if it was -4 for the team

Also, of note from the game was that the final point spread was 29.5. OSU won by 30. If my memory serves me correct, OSU has covered the spread each game so far.

As for the comment about OSU's d-line, they did have 8 sacks against UC. Pitcock had 3 on his own.

I hate to say it now, but I think BG may have a tougher game this time. The only thing that might help is if OSU struggles against Penn State and Iowa, or suddenly doesn't have any depth to their roster. OSU played 57 players against Texas last week in the first half alone, and easily played 70 or 80 yesterday. BG doesn't have the same luxury and with its only wins against two teams they should have blown out, a lot has to happen in the next three weeks.

I don't think we have much of a chance at winning in 3 weeks and I really don't care that much. I just hope we play hard and compete until the very end. Cincinnati gave up a couple of TDs to the backups in the 4th quarter that probably should not have happened. The Buckeye backups are really good, but I think it was more of UC "giving up" on the game. Tjeir lack of depth and being dog tired probably did not help much.

As far as Pitcock, he was unbelievable all game long. They may be inexperienced on D, but they have experience in the middle of that D-line, which is VERY important IMO. I am really anxious to see how Lichtensteiger and Markray match up against Pitcock and Patterson.

The OSU game will be a major success if:

A: We cover the spread

and

B: There are no major injuries
