Perrick Robinson, Jr. joins the team

Post by BGGrad01 »

Dakich has signed a 5'9" point guard from Chicago to play this winter. I like that he grabbed 6 boards a game at his height and averaged over 6 steals too. Anything from the Insiders?

From the insiders.com:

He is listed as a ** recruit. For comparison's sake Soler & Vandermeer are both also ** guys. Ronald Lewis was a *** guy and Raheem Moss was a * guy. Those were our recent signees that they had listed. So, he seems to be a pretty decent pickup. I'm not a size guy myself. If he's as quick as that quote makes him sound, I'm happy.

With it appearing that Wright will be staying, Soler not leaving, and now picking up Robinson......I'm finally getting excited about BG hoops like I was a few weeks ago before all the mess broke out about Hobson/Wright/Soler. Let's hope we're finally starting to piece everything together and that we can just go out there and get things done on the floor this season.

Seems like All-City in Chicago is a decent accomplishment!

Definitely. City of Chicago is considered one of the most competitive leagues of HS basketball in the country. Usually a good sign to sign someone from there.

sounds like a great catch

I always love having 1 or 2 small, quick guys our roster. They're super handy in beating the press and in late, tight situations when ball control is essential. Also, it's nice having at least one player that can defend the likes of Andrew Mitchel, Patrick Jackson, Terry Reynolds, etc.

Six boards per game reveals a lot about quickness. It tells me that he's a very heads up player who anticipates well and is quick to the ball. I'm very happy about this signing. He seems like he could be in the rotation right away.

Now, there might be instances he could play the point, Wright could play the 2, and Lewis could play SF. There will be many times when that would be an ideal lineup.

This is what I'm hoping for. Wright is a natural 2. Lewis would be better served at the 3 due to his defensive deficiencies. Wright & Lewis would be offensive mismatches at the 2 & 3 respectively as well.

Why was he still available?

Post by Warthog »

This guy seems to have put up good stats in all categories expected of a point guard. So why the heck was he still available this late? Is it because of his height? I think somebody would have taken a chance on him before now if that was the only reason. I am glad that is was still around because we need some players, but I am still curious. :?
