If eyes need to be opened that is fine. But you need to have a little more than a playoff record to open those eyes. If solid, indesputalbe proof were offered then the reception you are getting would be much different. Without that it just looks like you are calling for the head of a coach who have not gotten his team to play well yet. Thankfully we give our coaches more than a year or two to develop and recriut talent. If we let Gary Blackney go for 6 years with a loosing record what makes you think we will pull the trigger here without hard evidence after only 4? If there is something the public needs to know then bring it out and bring it strong. I didn't mean for this to be a pissing match and am just as at fault that it has become that. All we want is what is best for Falcon sports and if something as big as a head coaching change is needed then solid proof will have to be presented. If it's solid enough you will find a lot of support for the cause. But we have to see the proof first.

I can respect that point of view. But understand how hard that makes it to look into any of these allegations without anything to go on.

people need to look into this situation. Just have unbiased people go in and talk to the players with no possibility of what they say leaking to the coach. Then you will find the truth, also ask former players, with the answers that are gained you will begin to realize how poorly the players are treated and how a change needs to be made.
Bigdog I know where you're coming from, but not all the players were treated poorly. You will have to take my word for this. However, I do know that the players have been saying he is a bad coach, but my understanding is that that is on the ice game day. Remember, we did sweep OSU and finally Michigan at home last year. Not bad. But he also has made huge management mistakes in the past, and one of those is treating badly players that he didn't like or didn't respect as players. Last year a huge mistake was made in not naming alternate captains, possibly because three of them were sophomores, Hodgson, Mazzie, and Matsumoto, but Paluch has wisely, in my opinion, learned from last year's disaster and named Svendsen as an assistant captain. Let's be clear also, Hodgson is the ONLY captain, the others are assistant captains. Hodgson is a true born leader, is a proven winner, and was recruited by almost half of the Division 1 programs, including Ohio State, which offered him a full scholarship. Mazzie and Svendson are also winners, always playing at the highest level. As for the coming season, I hope it's good. I think it will be. If the new AD finds reason to dismiss Paluch and Fogerty after this season, so be it. Peace my friends.

Put up or shut up, my man. Unlike my esteemed colleague, I can not appreciate this point of view. All you are doing is attempting to undercut this program without offering any kind of real proof that anything you say is true. At best this is slander, and at worst, it is simply treason. If you want change, then grow a pair and see that change through. What you are doing now is absolutely gutless, evinces a complete lack of character, and makes me question your intelligence.bigdog wrote:It's hard to present proof while still remaining anonymous. People need to understand that I more than anyone want to see the hockey team win. All I am saying is that it won't happen until this coach is gone. I hope they do very well this year, but how are you as a player suppossed to play for a coach you don't respect. That is the unfortunate circumstance currently.

I'm going to have to agree with Bleeding Orange here. If these actions are so offensive and merit dismal, I can't see how someone wouldn't have to balls to come forward. Do you not feel stronly enough in what you believe to stand up for it? And if don't feel you have good enough evidence to come forward why bother bitching about it at all. Ay-Zig isn't some site that will spur some Nixon-esqe type journalistic investigation (though Maureen does a pretty good job keeping up on football for usBleeding Orange wrote:Put up or shut up, my man. you know the attitude in BG every year is "oh well another losing season, we'll do it next year," the reason for posting the origional message isn't to bash on the hockey program but rather to hopefully just open a couple eyes so that this season someone may notice what goes on behind the scenes and maybe the community can do something about it. BG deserves to have a good team, all the season ticket holders deserve to go and watch a top notch team night after night. Although my tone has been to critical of the coach, I do hope the team does well becuase all the players work so hard everyday that they deserve to see something come out of it.

[newly registered sock puppet]BG needs a new coach because Paluch sux. All the players think he sux. Ask any of the players. As long as Paluch is the coach, BG will always be in last place. In fact, if he continues, the team will be even worse than last place.
I know more about hockey than any of you common fans. I can't tell you why I know, I just do.[/newly registered sock puppet]
My GOD can we not get creative? It's the exact same exhausted argument just restated with yet another sock puppet. And why is it that these sock puppets are so petrified to use the carriage return button?
It's a quandary.

If this statement is the basis of your argument, then I would argue that it is a false premise. No one in the BG Hockey family is of this opinion. We are not willing to simply accept losing. By the same token, though, most of us realize that this program, for many reasons, has fallen on some hard times over the past decade, and, consequently, it will take some time for the program to return to the status that it, and we (and by we I mean old people like Falcon Fanatic and BGFanbigdog wrote:you know the attitude in BG every year is "oh well another losing season, we'll do it next year,"
You still haven't addressed the crux of my last post, though: put up or shut up. It seems to me that you are leaning more towards shutting up, and I suggest that you make a decision one way or another. Nothing you are doing is in any way even remotely helping this program return to the level that you say you hope they do.

Funny? The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result.bigdog wrote:funny how it keeps coming up though, isn't it?
Funny? Or insane? I've made up my mind as to which it is.

I neglected to address this in my previous post, but this is another point that I have a serious problem with. Do you really think that simply working hard should translate into championships or even a top four finish? Do you think that players at UMass-Lowell don't work hard? Do you think that players at UConn don't work hard? Do you think that players at Michigan Tech don't work hard? Wayne State, even? Every hockey player works hard everyday in hockey. If they didn't, they would be injured at all times and they wouldn't be able to keep anything out of the net at all.bigdog wrote: Although my tone has been to critical of the coach, I do hope the team does well becuase all the players work so hard everyday that they deserve to see something come out of it.
If this statement is any indication of the perspective from which you approach the game of hockey, then I think I understand where you are coming from now, and I think I may know why the team looked so friggin' hapless last year if, as you claim, a lot of players agreed with your point of view. Championships and winning records are earned not only with hard work, but faith in a coach and a team. Championships and winning records are not arbitrary rewards for simply skating a few sprints at practice.
Again: put up or shut up.
