Some Thoughts

Post by Globetrotter »

1. Can we get everyone to wear orange at OSU. It would look really cool to have a see or red and white and then a Nice little patch of completely orange.

2. I have been throwing out the idea that in order to get more people to the games we should target the counties and larger cities around Bowling Green. Adopt them as BG Football towns. High School Football is huge in these cities and they are full of 18-30 something guys just starting to build families, most likely a great target audience. I had toyed with ideas about how to get them to come, ticket deals, blocking off certain areas etc. etc. All have holes. Well what about this....Target these counties:Sandusky (Fremont, Clyde, Gibsonburg); Ottawa (Oak Harbor, Port Clinton); Seneca (Tiffin, Fostoria); Hancock (Findlay); Putnam (Leipsic, Ottawa); Henry (Napoleon); Williams (Bryan); Defiance (Defiance) and Wood. Now I think the easiest way to do this is instead of blocking off an area for each, name each row for each. This is what they do in Disneyworld. Mickey Row, Goofy Row, etc. Etc. Now we do that for each of those counties. Put something in each of their papers explaining the idea complete with a coupon. Buy 4 get one free or so whichever. Have the art classes be involved through a project where they paint the actual lot in those areas. For instance....The Sandusky Lot...a photo of RB Hayes, Charles Woodson, Mark Coleman, etc. The Defiance lot a photo of that racer from Defiance. Or just a race car or whatever. Little bits and pieces that show a glimpse of each of those cities & areas. We would be reaching out to these areas and giving them an opportunity to have fun with their friends and see football....and hopefully get attached to the program.

Alot of our students come from these areas, this may be an opportunity for their family and friends to come enjoy the game with them. It will be an opportunity to have old friends reconnect. Lets say you had 5 friends from school. 2 of you graduate from BG, 2 dont go to school and 1 goes to Akron. You all now all live back in NWO. Perhaps 6 games a year are a nice reunion with those friends amongst others. It can be a uniter amoungst groups that are always divided when college comes.

Problems I see. 1. I am not sure how parking works. I have parked there only once and got there very early. There may be some problem with this.
2. The paintings are bound to get painted over by some funny kids. Because of this an attempt to celebrate someone might seem as degrading.

Also we can certainly stretch out from those areas. I am from Fremont so I took what I knew best.

There will be at least two more people at the EMU game than originally expected. And they'll be coming from well beyond NW Ohio.

safe travels and don't worry, we won't tell anyone if you stop up north a little bit at 7:00 or so for a few hours...
