The steady improvement of the defensive line....
....has brought on the strength of our defense. In the past 4 games, there has yet to be a team to score more than 20 points, and I really don't see it happening in the next 2 games vs. Eastern and Western. Everyone has stayed healthy and after being dead last in the MAC in sacks, they're slowly climbing up the rankings. Thaler and Williams have been very consistent and Cooley had a career day against Ball St. and Leininger has 3 sacks in the past 2 games. Parks is a beast with some unreal speed off the edge and Crossley, even though he doesn't have a sack yet, is coming back to his All-MAC ability. I believe if the d-line keeps playing the way they have, I don't think that they'll lose another game this season.[/b]
The return of Leininger and maturation of the other young DTs has been evident in the past few games. They are definitely playing much better than they had against OU & NIU. I still want to see what the group can do against a quality OL, and we will soon enough. EMU's got a pretty good ground attack, and Marshall & UT will definitely be a challenge for our DL.
Let's hope they continue to improve!
