End of the World?
End of the World?
We lose at home to Kent State by 35 points and Buffalo is on the road at #2 Auburn and only down 17-7? God help us!

Thanks for that H2oville. Many people on this board are probably on suicide watch. Most people don't realize this is a very young team on both sides of the ball add to that it was missing its starting quarterback. It sucks to lose but many people on here didn't give BG much of a chance before the season began those same people continue to complain about everything.h2oville rocket wrote:Keep in mind-no Turner. Not sure his playing would have won it for you but it certainly gives you more options. Looks like the Falcons might have found a running back though. the Falcons will win more than one more game for sure.

Well one thing is for sure, Turner's absence really killed our offensive attack today. Kent was loading up the box from the get-go and made us beat them through the air, and look what happened. I can't really blame Brandon for the conservative play calling with Barnes at QB considering that most of our pass attempts either end up airmailed, dropped by the WRs, or intecepted.Tricky_Falcon wrote:Thanks for that H2oville. If Turner is back next week, then we'll have a good chance to win next week in Athens. We play better on the road anyway IMO. But if he's still out, it could be another long day.

Our freshmen played like freshmen today. The secondary didn't do a good job in the first half. The front four didn't get sconsistent pressure on Edelman and the offense was hampered by poor throws, decisions and inconsitent protection.
On the plus side, Ellis kicked well and the defense had a very good effort in the second half. Bullock ran hard...but he also had a fumble.
If you would have told me in the fall of 2005 that we were about to embark on a four losses in five games streak at the Doyt, I would have called you a nut...or a psycho...maybe even a dumbass.
I hope to hell we don't come back home sitting at 2-4, but I have a feeling we are...I'm feeling 1995ish today.

Because the play calling was so varied and explosive when AT was playing?bgsufalcon24 wrote: I can't really blame Brandon for the conservative play calling with Barnes at QB considering that most of our pass attempts either end up airmailed, dropped by the WRs, or intecepted.
I'm starting to think the conservative play calling may be more of a function of our pass catchers as opposed to our pass throwers. I use the term "catchers" very loosely in this instance.

I go back to accepting that this is a re-building year...as long as we rebuild. I also think that Brandon has to, has to, go back to the Urban Meyer construct, and I'm not talking about the spread. I'm talking about discipline and execution. I'm not seeing it and that has me worried.
I unfortunately hope the Ohio State game is not televised nationally because I believe it could get embarrasing. The conservative nature of our offense has to stop, we must be able to suprise and keep OSU on their toes, not to mention every other MAC opponent. Halfback passes, trickeration has worked for us in the past and we need those things in our offense.

It isn't going to, and anyone that heard Gregg's post-game interview knows it. He spent twenty minutes stressing "patience" with these "young kids." These "young kids" are the same age as every other "young kid" at every other university around the country, and there are few teams that struggle this badly with their "young kids."ZuluWarrior wrote: The conservative nature of our offense has to stop...
Yes, this is a rebuilding year, but losing to Kent 38-5 - the first Kent victory in BG and the WORST HOME LOSS IN THE HISTORY OF THE DOYT - is not "building" anything. This is bullshit, and there is no ammount of sugar to coat bullshit to keep it from smelling like bullshit.

This is kind of where I stand. Even if Kent St. *has* turned some kind of a corner, 38-3 is a tough pill to swallow.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:The rebuilding year excuses for today don't even come close to cutting it.
A rebuilding year doesn't mean we shouldn't be competitive with Kent freakin' state.
I probably wouldn't have been surprised if you'd have told me this morning that Kent State would win today. If you'd told me they'd win by 35, I'd ship ya to the looney bin.
I think we'll find out a lot about what this team and coaching staff is made of next Saturday in Athens.

it will say alot about GB and the coaching staff on how they can get this team to rebound from this horrible loss and ready for a tough one in athens. i hope AT is back for that one because without him we don't stand a chance after today, we need to be running more reverses and trick plays...what the hell is happening to macon why did he disappear in teh 2nd and 3rd quarters. Is he really not good at all or are we just not using him the right way. i think he could be really effective in teh screen game. If we can get him to the outside and use his speed, he could be effective. Why is brandon being so freaking conservative. we need some imagination on offense. And another thing i noticed today was so many penalties killed drives. that killed us more than anything i thought.

I think the players lost their heads there at the end with turnovers and that caused some touchdowns late. That lands on the coaches shoulders to get your team prepared and poised to play. But from what I hear the coaches were trying to get the players pumped for the game but the team just wasn't responding. If that's true, that's a tough pill to swallow. It's time for these players and coaches to wake up. We all know this is a rebuilding year and growing pains will happen but progress needs to be made.
*Watching the Notre Dame game and saw MSU just scored. Also saw last week that the savior coach has the same record through 14 games that Tyrone had through 14 games. A lot of people must be pissed on that board.
