Absolutely the worst effort...
Today was pathetic. I have never seen such a lousy game in recent memory. The worse of it? Lack of enthusiam and quitting on plays. Perfect example: On Kent's second td, Hargrove quit his coverage because he thought we had a sack. Voila...td.
If we were to have a game against a paper bag, I would take the bag and the points.
Pathetic. I am dreading the trip to Columbus. At least Tressle shows mercy to opponents.
Did I say pathetic? Basketball season is about a month away. I can't wait because at least they play with passion and fire.

Of all the guys that Brandon should call out, Corey Partridge should not have been the one that he did call out. He was wide open for much of the first half downfield, but he was never hit by FB. I think he might have tipped one of them (leading to an INT), but I don't even think he got a hand on any of the other ones. I don't remember a drop from #1 and he had a solid punt return in the first quarter that set up good field position. IMO, Partridge was one of a handful of people that actually showed up today.Warthog wrote:Since you brought this up, I have something to say that is really bothering me, and Brandon brought it up in the post game conference. Does he have something against Corey Partridge? He was talking about playmakers needing to step up and mentioned Corey by name. And everytime Corey has been hurt he seems to call him out about that as well. Saying s**t like Partridge has got to get healthy or learn to play with some pain. He said that last year and he said it again this year. And then he calls him out of all the players that pissed down their leg today? I thought that was crap. How can a WR step up when the frinkin QB is throwing the ball 10 feet over his head when he is wide open? Brandon is pointing the finger in the wrong direction, IMO. Wonder if Spart has noticed any of this or has some thoughts?Tricky_Falcon wrote:The leader of the team which is supposed to be the quarterback ...
Or still running in from the sideline. This is one thing that frustrates me beyond belief. Are our LBs, DTs, and DEs in that bad of shape that they can't play more then two plays in a row? I think we rotate two or three player in on every down. Has anyone else noticed this? And it isn't a "package" or "down and distance situation" related. I can't figure it out. I know you need to keep guys fresh, but you also have to let them get into the flow of the game. I bet no def lineman on our team plays more than four plays in a row without coming off the field. Can anyone prove me wrong?BGGrad01 wrote:My favorite Coach Brandon comment was regarding Kent's offensive pace. He complained about our defensive players not being ready for the plays when they were snapped. Uh......the defensive players were staring at the sideline waiting for the defensive set to get called by.........the coaches! Kent did a really good job throughout the first half getting snaps off before we had guys anywhere near where they were supposed to be.

At this point it is just a joke. We are not seeing the results of a youthful football team. We're seeing the results of an incompetent coaching staff.
I'm not holding back on anything anymore. I've been no fan of Brandon for quite some time, but at this point he just looks like a freakin' idiot.
He's arrogant in spades. He seems to think that he's smarter than all the other coaches with his goofy punt formations, and calling the same plays over and over again. Then when it doesn't work he gets on the radio and talks about how the problems are youth and execution. Hey coach, it's your freaking JOB to get them to execute. He says that he's gonna keep on coaching 'em up, well I would like someone to name me one player that Brandon has "coached up".
HAS there ever been a player who has signficantly improved during Brandon's tenure? Sharon & Sanders, I suppose. That'd be about it though, that I can recall.

I suppose a good question right now is which program is under worse leadership right now, football with Gregg Brandon, or men's basketball with Dan Dakich? Before today I would have said men's basketball in a heartbeat, but now I'm not sure.BGorDeath wrote:Today was pathetic. I have never seen such a lousy game in recent memory. The worse of it? As I mentioned to the azz gang at the game, the Basketball team should have a pretty terrible record about the same time as the football season wraps up. Perhaps we could save some dollars by only havinig one press conference announcing the termination of the coaches?bgsufalcon24 wrote:

That'd be sweet.
The problem is that while I'm 99.999% confident that Dakich is in a lame duck year and will only be destroying our basketball program for one more year. I get the feeling that the administration likes Brandon and that he'll be around for at least the next 2 years of his contract...

To start off, in one way or another I agree with just about everything that's been said. The main point being that Brandon has got to go. I've also taken off the "Orange and Brown" glasses, and have come to realize that the players that were once brought in through Urban Meyer were what was keeping up our football program. As a band member, I am fully behind the entire team, just not the coaching staff. Until things change for the better soon, I don't know how much more of this I can take. Had I had the opportunity, I would have also left early. By the end of the game, we were just basically giving them the ball on interceptions, fumble recovers, etc. and we did nothing to stop them from returning it for a touchdown. While on the sideline right before halftime, I heard several players who were upset by the results they were getting on the field. I would say their comments, but seeing as how this is a family-oriented type forum, I will refrain. It seems as though the players are getting tired of things as well, whether they see it as a coaching problem, or whether they see it as they just aren't getting it done. Either way, they aren't happy with the results they've been getting, especially with the game today. As far as AT and FB go, it seems as though that when both AT and FB are in the game, the team does a lot better. I don't know if it's just because of the fact that AT might be better at getting the team fired up or what, but both games we won, AT and FB just lit it all up. We need coaches that when they know there is a problem, they will get to it immediately to fix it. It's taken them this long to get the Special Teams situation figured out, well...kind of. Who knows how long it will take for the coaching staff to figure out a solution to this massive problem of the lack of letting our players just play the freakin' ball game and have fun with it. I'm tired, I've been doing band all day, it's time for me to get some sleep...On with Ohio, May He Help Us All (Not Get Slaughtered!)

I was surveying the crowd towards the end of the game to see who was still around and saw you two leaving.Falconfreak90 wrote:I have never left a game early...NEVER. I did today with 3 minutes left. I couldn't stand to see my son Josh writhing in anguish wanting to go to the bookstore. It was better that way.
I'm not entirely sure how I know what you look like, I guess I've seen you around at other games, but I noticed you leaving and made a comment to a friend nearby and said, "OK, it's official, this is beyond terrible. I'm fairly sure I've never seen them leave a game early before, if they are now, that's a sign."
It's too bad your son had to see a game like this one. I had 10 family members here for the game and I didn't have a clue what to say to them to explain what happened.

In some conjunction with what Strouse said; with the team not even trying to play and the coaches basically handing the game out in the last seven minutes or so, many FMB'ers were forced to wonder how it is that we're supposed to work our asses off for the entire game but the team does not. Its pretty crushing for everyone's morale to watch them go out there and loaf through plays and not even try to get at least ONE damn touchdown so we can play the fight song and pep up a little bit. What a rediculous show they put on. When the people around you who know absolutely nothing about the game can call the plays along with the coach and sense the complete lack of effort then something is wrong. Jockey season can't come fast enough.
