The sun rose in the East this morning and will set in the West this evening.
Gregg Brandon is our coach today, tomorrow, Saturday against OU and the following Saturday when we play our next opponent as he will be next fall when the team plays.
And just to show you how ridiculous the comment about "frementing over the NW Ohio atmosphere is".... one look at the TU boards and you will see that it hasn't overtaken all of NW Ohio.
And so the sun will rise in the East tomorrow and shall set in the West tomorrow evening, and Gregg Brandon will still be the head coach of the Falcons.

True. I'm sure all the UT fans hope Brandon is here as long as possible.
The last time I checked, Brandon did not have a lifetime contract. He's not signed over an extravagent period of time.
I was in Brandon's camp for a long time, the bowl victories carrying a lot of weight. The sentiment on the board still appears to be 80/20 for Brandon, but don't easily dismiss the 20% of us who are marshallling a growing avalanche of evidence to support our case seemingly by the day.
What sent me to the other camp was one of the most humuliating defeats in the history of the program, with no hyperbole needed. Aside from being the worst loss in Perry Stadium history, it came to a team that has essentially been a red-headed stepchild to BG for 30+ years and had lost 11 of its last 12 games.
It is not a wild, crazy or unrealistic step to propose replacements for a program that has steadily digressed since 2003, particularly when the conference is as competitive as ever.
There's still a reasonable argument to give Brandon a chance to fix what he created, as Flipper said. But many seem to blindly ignore the backslide the program had taken, and even worse, acknowledge it and cynically crow that nothing can be done about it.

I think there is some hyperbole needed.
Hey, look at me! I'm all over the InterWebs! Facebook ~ Twitter @ CoachKarlPA ~ LinkedIn
I don't know of a sports team that has never been humiliated, and whenever they are, the humiliation is always proportional to their tradition, and more often than not, deserved.
It is unreasonable to expect BGSU could never lose to Kent State, and it bothers me that somehow it is impossible that BGSU should ever lose to Kent State by virtue of past record alone.
Traditions are great things, but the only teams that perpetuate them are the ones that play like they're still trying to get one. That is for the coach to fix, and if the Kent States of this world can step up their production, then when the BG's and Miami's of this world step up too, the MAC will be a better place.
My vote would be for Mark Duffner, the LBs coach for the Packers with Ohio and College HC history and then maybe Billy Gonzales for the OC job if he is ready.

Save it Matela. Brandon isn't going anywhere until at least 2008, coincidentally the season after which I graduate from BGSU. You know full well that we don't fire coaches before their contracts are up, we saw it last March when we failed to can Dakich after that 9-23 disaster in men's basketball. Not that I would even think about firing Brandon right now, unless we were to lose to Temple and lose out, which is impossible.
If this team underperforms in 07, you can bet that Gregg Brandon will not coach this team in 2008. The program cannot continue the backslide that we've been on. They are young, but for some reason, our team can't be so young...why do we have no older players? Were they not developed, not recruited? Something has to change.
Living in Virginia....so this is what elevation looks like =)

Everybody knows that. Urban's abrupt exit cost us serious recruiting time, and hurt that class. I'll give Brandon props on one thing...he's awesome at coming up with excuses.

You're welcome, Mr. Christopher.
I could have swore the sun rose from the East this morning
Any of those names with the possible exception of Bradley (waiting on JoePa) and Kill (waiting on a Big 10/12 gig) would jump at the BG job.

I would argue that the worst loss in program history was in 2000 when we lost at BUFFALO. I still remember Gary Blackney announcing his resignation in the post-game interview. That was the worst loss for this program in my mind.

I agree. In retrospect, the sting has been taken out of the Kent loss just a bit now that we know how good they are. They had lost 11 out of the last 10, hadn't beaten us at home since 1972 and had the biggest margin of victory for an opponent in the history of the stadium, so at the time I felt it was justified.
I recall another MAC coach resigned shorty after losing to Buffalo as well. That should be built into all MAC football contracts: "I pledge to herby tender my immediate resignation should a team I coach ever lose to Buffalo"
Just to actually give this thread some meaning, there should be only one name atop "the short list" for taking over the program in '09.
John Lovett. When he came here, I think he had becoming the head coach squarely in mind. I think he can be the man for the job. The only squad I've seen that looks motivated at all this year has been the defense.

How good is that? Good enough to lose 44-0 to Minnesota at home and lose to frickin' Army? I hate to say it, but the MAC is awful if Kent is the best team.
